Thing is that I tried with both drives to install again the mac os x vía USB (I don't have a CD drive) and in both cases I came up with the tipical 'you must reboot your computer' error scereen. Then I would try an SMC reset. Mavericks and Mountain Lion can be pretty finicky and even strange when new hardware is installed. I've had to reset the SMC on my system wi

Now I can't get past the spinner. It's been going for about 4 hours now with no shows of progress. Hold D while booting your iMac to get into that. –Harv Jan 28 '11 at 0:46 add a comment| up vote 1 down vote Try Verbose Boot - Command-V while starting, it will show you what the systme is doing as it starts up instead of a pretty gray face. If you get anything like "disk0s2: I/O Error" you're looking at a failing hard drive. Go to the nearest Genius Bar or other AASP. If you get hung up with some other errors, try re-installing the system from the Snow Leopard DVD. share|improve this answer answered Jan 28 '11 at 0:29 Christian L 1,243812

Download thelatest version of Skype If you still get the error after downloading the latest version, we can help you solve it below. Need to make a call right now?If you don't have time to work through these steps, you can use o error Skype for Web (Beta) to make calls or send messages direct from your browser. You don’t need to download or install Skype. Launch Skype for Web now. To resolve the disk I/O error, choose your operating system below. Windows 10 There are two possible fixes for the Disk I/O error. The first is to delete and re-create your user folder. The second is to change the permissions for your temporary files. To delete and recreate your user folder: Quit Skype. If you can see the Skype icon disk i o in the task bar, right-click it and select Quit Skype. If you can’t see it, right-click the task bar and click Task Manager, then select Skype and click End Task. Pressthe Windows and R keys on your keyboard at the same time. In the Run window, type %appdata%\Skype and click OK. In the File Explorer window that opens, find the folder with the same name as your Skype Name (if you’re signing in with a Microsoft account, the folder may start with live#3 instead). You’re about to delete this folder, which means your chat history will be deleted. If you want to save your chat history first, open the folder and copy the main.db file (depending on your Windows settings, you might not see the .db extension)and the chatsync folder to another location. You can transfer them back later, although we can’t guarantee that your entire chat history will be restored. Delete the folder. RestartSkype and sign in. The folder you deleted in step 5 will be recreated. If you saved your chat history, copy the files back into the folder with the same name as your Skype Name. If the above solution didn't fix the problem, you may have moved your temporary files to a location outside your profile and are missing some necessary permissions. Try the following steps. Your temporary folder is located by default atC:\Temp, but you may have set a different location for temporary files. Quit Skype (see step 1 above). Open File Explorer and go to This PCthen find theTempfolde

Sunday, 14:14 Damn, The Clash got corrupted. Sunday, 15:17 Copying stuff to an external drive in the Finder sucks! As every corrupt file causes the whole copy process to fail. Having more luck using mv in the terminal, as it will continue to copy despite finding corrupt files. Sunday, 19:03 Erased disk and re-installed OS X, hoping that has fixed the bad disk sectors. Anu Nigam says: January 6, 2010 at 2:07 pm I noticed that if I don't turn on skype the problem goes away. For me the hard drive was getting almost full, so I think there is an issue with Skype mounting because there is no space and then the you get the IO error. Tell me if that works. The first time, the system.log got corrupt and deleting it appeared to have fixed it. However it happened a week later. The system.log was fine, and like the previous time, I ran fsck, Disk Warrior, applejack, and also removed the system.log, but only found removing all logs from /var/log/* and /Library/Logs got me through.
