I'm loading up a live copy of Mint Linux of a box through the CD, but I'm getting a [ 124.705275] buffer I/O error on device sr0, logical block 174724 ...and a bunch more What does this mean? Bad hard ware? I ran a mem scan, and it was fine after running 19 full test. com> Subject: Buffer I/O error on device sr0 Date: Sat, 09 Oct 2004 11:29:36 -0500 I used to think that the subject error in /var/log/messages dealt with sr_mod not being loaded by udev in initrd. Maybe it still https://www.redhat.com/archives/rhl-beta-list/2004-October/msg00613.html is, but I notice that sr_mod is getting loaded by something now, because /dev/scd0 exists automatically. But I still get this error (see sample below). Possibly related is the fact that CD audio utilities can't seem to deal (completely) with audio CDs in my SCSI CD drive. ("It worked in FC2.") Data CDs appear to have no problems, but I haven't really tested thoroughly.
