I kernel buffer io error on device wanted to do a dual boot last night with Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron. I booted up off the cd and launched the install planning to install Ubuntu on a seperate partition but landing up get this error "Buffer I/O Error on device, fd0 Logical Block 0" right after I selected "Install Ubuntu" off the CD. Originally I thought it's because all the formats of my partitions were in NTFS so I formatted a partition to Ext 3 hoping it would solve the problem but didn't I than ran the cd within Windows and selected "Install within Windows" option and allocated 15GB of space from my primary partition but when my machine rebooted I again received this same error. Any suggestions? install Ubuntu 7.10 on a selection of Dell Latitude C510/C610's yesterday. When I loaded the standard desktop install CD it kept coming up with the error Buffer I/O error on device fd0, logical http://www.techontour.com/os-servers/2008/04/20/buffer-io-error-on-device-fd0-logical-block-0-on-ubuntu-install/ block 0, then it would not be able to finish the install. This http://www.hack.net.br/2009/12/01/buffer-io-error-on-device-fd0-logical-block-0-error/ was frustrating - but the solution was relatively simple. All you need to do is download and use the alternative installation which you can get here, and then for some reason that will work. I looked for other causes of the problems and it has been claimed that it could also be if you o error use a multi-drive as opposed to a single purpose CD drive. However I did not find this was true in my situation! So after several hours I now have Ubuntu running on a couple of laptops to take and give away in East Africa! Success!! Vasculhando o arquivo /var/log/message, é possivel encontrar a seguinte mensagem: Nov 05 12:04:05 dell01 kernel: end_request: I/O error, dev fd0, sector 0 Nov 05 12:04:05 dell01 kernel: Buffer I/O error on device fd0, logical block 0 O que isso significa? #reboot pode ser reboot ou shutdown -r now dependendo da distribuição Posted in Linux, Posts em Português-BrasilTagged floppy, i/o error, kernel, Linux Post navigation Previous Article Descobrindo IP reverso no Windows Next Article Configurando Firewall iptables em servidor dedicado Leave a Reply Cancel reply Your email address will not be published.
