10:19 AM Hi, I have OracleEx 10g and Odp.NET 11g (ODTwithODAC1110620.exe) installed on my machine, now when I try to install OUnit11 I got the error as title. I have in my enviroment variables "PATH" the following: C:\app\ahmad\product\11.1.0\client_1; (this the path for odp.net 11g) C:\app\ahmad\product\11.1.0\client_1\bin; (this the path for odp.net11g) C:\oraclexe\app\oracle\product\10.2.0\server\bin; (this for OracleEx 10g) is it oracle client downloads correct that the existence of two Oracle Home the envrioment variables causes this problem? if not, then how to fix the error I am getting? Re: Could not locate OCI dll 569278 Feb 21, 2008 10:27 AM (in response to 569278) Okay, I found this in the forums: oci.dll not found when installing 11g client and using PL/SQL I don't know if it is apply in my case because I right click on "C:\app" but there is nothing called "authenticated users" in the users names! so should I add it? While connecting through Pl/Sql developer , I am getting error message as " Initialization error - oci.dll - oci dll returned 0". I am using Windows 7. Thanks Md Haidar Ali Khan Greenhorn Posts: 12 posted 3 years ago Guys, I installed Oracle 11g client because of the reported fix of System.Transactions issue known in 10g. I use PL/SQL developer, and it told me "Initialization error: could not locate Could not locate OCI dll", though the registry entry and ORAHOME folder it showed were Ok. It seems like PL/SQL developer was looking for OCI.dll not in the reported ORAHOME folder but in ORAHOME\bin folder. After copying all files (luckily, they are quite few) from ORAHOME root to bin PL/SQL developer began to work correctly. with PL/SQL developer, you may encounter the message "Initialization error: Could not locate OCI dll" when launching PL/SQL Developer. It does not happen with the 8i client so I already suspected that it must be with the 10g client that I recently installed. Luckily, I found this thread in Oracle OTN forum and the solution seems to be easy. All I have to do is copy a whole bunch of files from the ORAHOME folder to ORAHOMEbin. It seems like PL/SQL Developer is hardwired to find the files under the bin folder. It did the trick and my sql editor is now working. I hope it fixes yours too. Here's the screenshot of the files I copied. Take note that I copied them instead of just moving so as not to break anything. Marco on November 25, 2009 at 12:52 am said: Same problem here. I have no files in my ORAHOME folder, only subfolders. So I don't know what to copy. Can you please publish the screenshot or mail it to me? kwatog on December 2, 2009 at 7:04 am said: sorry guys,! I have updated the post to include the screenshot. I have some simple Oracle client for 11g installed which already has a bin directory…alas, it contains stuff related to mts etc. What a mess… Bhageerath on January 20, 2010 at 10:42 pm said: Thanks man.Its working. Ravi Bhatt on August 11, 2010 at 5:45 am said: Hi, I encountered the same issue with Oracle 11g when I was trying to login using PL/SQL Developer. I came across some steps which are worth sharing. And its clean means no ddl copying is involved. Steps: 1) Login to PL/SQL Developer 2) Go to Tools 3) Click Preferences 4) Click Connection in preferences pop-up 5) Select "Orahome90" under Oracle Home dropdown 6) Apply the changes 7)Close the PL/SQL shell 8) Login again to PL/SQL Developer And the error is no more. Hope this post is worth to all the people encountering the same problem. Thanks, Ravi Bhatt. Muthu on March 25, 2011 at 1:5
