to make it less complex can get around "limitcheck" errors. Breaking up the print job in smaller entities can also do the trick. Print only one page or even error limitcheck offending command mac one color at the time. Send your page without including the images to see whether images are causing the problem. Ungrouping objects can be very effective. Often groups and especially groups in groups or rotated groups of objects really make it tough to render PostScript. Nesting files (e.g. placing an EPS in an EPS or placing a PDF file error limitcheck offending command gsave on a page) also adds to the complexity of a document and can lead to limitcheck errors (especially with the offending commands ‘save' and ‘restore'). If you have a printer with a limited amount of memory you could try to reduce the number of fonts used in the document. Use the option ‘split long paths' in drawing applications to split up complex path in easier to process chunks. If you are printing from Illustrator: if the document contains gradients, select Compatible Gradient Printing (Illustrator 7.x or earlier) or Compatible Gradient and Gradient Mesh Printing (Illustrator 8.0) in the Document Setup dialog box. Johan sent me an e-mail: He got a couple of limitcheck errors in PostScript 3 RIPs because of a very big ‘history' entry in Photoshop EPS metadata. The problem is solved by deleting the metadata, but finding the offending image can be tricky in a big project. Photoshop itself has no problem with such EPS files and they can be placed in QuarkXPress documents without a problem. Using TIFF or JPEG or making

a postscript error and not creating pdf 2010-03-22 10:17:16 rosencra38 Registered: Mar 18 2010 Posts: 4 Hello, I need some help with an issue. I work in a hospital and our medical records department https://acrobatusers.com/forum/pdf-creation/distiller-giving-postscript-error-and-not-creating-pdf/ needs to be able to create cd's with patient records on them for insurance audits. http://www.freeframers.org/archive/03/msg00187.html The system has been setup and working for a few years without any issues until two weeks ago. The department prints the record from the EMR to a print queue which is actually a computer in the back of the office. This computer grabs the record using RPM and then passes it to Acrobat Distiller to convert it to a offending command PDF. Two weeks ago we started getting errors about missing fonts and a postscript error. I was able to download the missing fonts but I still get the postscript error. I have recreated this setup on another computer and duplicated the same results/same error. I originally started this with Acrobat 7 Std and have since replaced it with Acrobat Std 9 but it did nothing to resolve the issue. I've been doing this long enough error limitcheck offending to know that the analysts tha deal with the EMR probably changed something with the way the records are compiled but they are not admitting to doing anything (typical). Instead they are telling me there is something wrong with adobe and want me to contact adobe support to find out about the error. I'd rather ask here first.... I have copied the error below. %%[ Error: limitcheck; OffendingCommand: save ]%% Stack: /rptlocalvm %%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%% %%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ]%% Top 2010-03-22 11:05:21 #1 daka630 Registered: Mar 1 2007 Posts: 1420 Just a datapoint."limitcheck" indicates the input to Distiller "exceeds printer's memory or PostScript language limit.""save" indicates a problem with any element or graphic.TechNote ID: 328515; "Troubleshoot PostScript errors"The issue resides with the provided "input" rather than with Adobe Distiller/Acrobat/PDF.As the "input" is from a separate process, it would appear that the problem & its resolution lie there.Be well... Be well... Top 2010-03-22 11:51:47 #2 rosencra38 Registered: Mar 18 2010 Posts: 4 Great, so it looks like you just confirmed what I have been telling the analysts all along. It's their problem, not mine..... But of course since it's my customer it's always my problem..... Top Copyright © 2013 Adobe Systems Incorporated. All rights reserved. Terms of Use Privacy Policy
