Maybe something in IIS. I'm using II6 at the moment. I like to capture the error message and then store it in the database. I know its possible in ASPX pages, but don't know exactly how you do in classic asp. Thank asp.net error handling you asp-classic custom-error-pages share|improve this question asked Feb 13 '12 at 16:25 MindGame 29921029 IIS7 has Failed Request Tracing which reports unhandled classic ASP errors, not sure if it exists in 6.0. learn.iis.net/page.aspx/266/… –Alex K. Use the Server.GetLastError object to get the details of the error in your handler script. It might be a good idea to log to a text file rather than a DB in your 500 handler for resiliency. share|improve this answer answered Feb 13 '12 at 16:33 Jon Eastwood 588617 1 Great answer... –Dan Feb 13 '12 at 16:38 This is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks Jon. I will try it out right now. –MindGame Feb 13 '12 at 16:45 When I response.write Server.GetLastError() I don't get anything. Any ideas? –MindGame Feb 13 '12 at 17:15 Oh I was doing

Classic Asp Global Error Handling
when using ASP or Active Server Pages with VBScript you will find asp.net try catch it necessary to check for errors when you do certain things that may fail and then handle it accordingly.
On Error Resume Next Vbscript
Things like opening a database connection or writing to a text file come to mind. Generally if an error is encountered in your .asp file, the processing of your script http://stackoverflow.com/questions/9264068/classic-asp-capture-errors stops and an error message is returned to the browser. If you want to continue processing your page even if an error is encountered, include the following line at the beginning of your .asp file: <% On Error Resume Next %> That being said just ignoring errors in your code is not a very good idea. What you really want to do http://www.powerasp.net/content/new/on-error-resume-next.asp is handle the error in some way. The example below opens a database connection and shows you how to trap a potential error and do whatever you want because of it. In this case we are simply displaying the error. <% ConnectionString = "DBQ=c:\inetpub\wwwroot\mysite\data\mydatabase.mdb;Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};" '*** This code checks the ConnectionString info you entered and reports back the error code if it is not ok Err.Clear On Error Resume Next Set ConnPasswords = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection") ConnPasswords.Open ConnectionString If Err.Number <> 0 Then Response.Write (Err.Description& "
") Response.Write("This means there is most likely a problem with the" & vbCrLf) Response.Write("""ConnectionString"" info that you specified.
" & vbCrLf) Response.End End If On Error GoTo 0 %> We put the "On Error GoTo 0 at the end because that will essentially end the "on error resume next" That is something you want to do so any later errors in your application do not get ignored without you knowing about it. Below is another example. In this example our application logs user info in a text file when they si
