The errors that needs to be handled are datatype mismatch, overflow of the value etc.RegardsSuresh Post #202268 Gogula G. AryalingamGogula G. Seems that DTS does not give http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/Topic202268-19-1.aspx any proper error handling capabilities, except for writing to logs. You could try using On Error Resume Next in your ActiveX script, but that's about it.Error handling like On Error Goto

Solved Capture dts errors in activex on error script Posted on 2005-06-20 MS SQL Server 1 Verified Solution 10 Comments 1,756 Views Last Modified: 2013-11-30 Hello, I am a problem with the DTS that I have created and I am not sure how to solve this. Basically what I have is a DTS which performs multiphase datapump. I have used activex scripting for doing the on error goto data transformation. During the transformation, if there is an error then I initialize global variables to certian values based on which I am sending emails in an activexscript that is defined to execute upon the completion of each phase of transforms. My problem now is how to get/capture the actual error description within the activex script. Is it possible to do this? If not, what is the correct approach I need to take in order to capture the error? Thanks a lot in advance, regards 0 Question by:dummie_q Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 75 Active 1 day ago Best Solution byAnthony Perkins Create a Global Variable, as in MyErrorMessage as data type string Than in your ActiveX script do somthing like this: If Err.Number <> 0 Then DTSGlobalVariables("MyErrorMessage").Value = Err.Description Go to Solution 10 Comments LVL 2 Overall: Level 2 MS SQL Server 1 Message Expert Comment by:curlypinhead2005-06-20 what language are you using for the activex script? 0 LVL 1 Overall: Level 1 Message Author Comment by:dummie_q

This book is designed as a guide for Access programmers looking to make this transition, but who have little or no prior experience with SQL Server. Veteran author Russell Sinclair begins by discussing SQL Server, its architecture and application environment, and its differences from Access. He provides coverage of key topics including security, data storage, system databases, database objects, and queries. Illustrates best practices for migrating Access databases to SQL Server Carefully explains the differences between these two systems and the changes needed for a smooth migration Assumes no prior knowledge of SQL Server Voorbeeld weergeven » Wat mensen zeggen-Een recensie schrijvenWe hebben geen recensies gevonden op de gebruikelijke plaatsen.Geselecteerde pagina'sTitelbladInhoudsopgaveIndexInhoudsopgaveWhat Every Access Programmer Needs to Know about SQL Server1 Why Migrate?25 Planning the Upgrade37 The Microsoft Wizard59 Data Transformation Services99 Using SQL Server 65141 Using SQL Server 7175 Enabling Data Access207 Stored Procedures221 Getting Connected249 Coding with SQL Server Data281 Optimizing Access for SQL Server307 Selected Tables321 INDEX325 Copyright Overige edities - Alles weergevenFrom Access to SQL ServerRussell SinclairGedeeltelijke weergave - 2000From Access to SQL ServerRussell SinclairFragmentweergave - 2000Fro
