Operating System Error Code 21
vote 2 down vote favorite I am making use of BULK INSERT within a stored procedure and I get this error: Cannot bulk load because the file "D:vanAS_TEST_vanRunGroupervan_DB.csv" could not be opened. Operating system error code 32(error not found). Notice the path has no slashes although it does when I use the BULK INSERT. In addition, I get a code 32 and although the error description was cannot bulk load because the file operating system error code 1326 not found. When I looked it up in a few forums (nothing definitive) it seems that the error code relates to: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process. Can anyone confirm this? Also, why is the file path missing slashes when the bulk insert command was passed a file path with slashes? Thanks all for any help Update This is how I call the stored procedure: exec data_Import ''D:\van\AS_TEST_van\Run\Grouper\van_DB.csv'', APCE_1011_Grouper_Out_FCE This is how I run the bulk insert within the stored procedure: exec('BULK INSERT dbo.' + @Table + ' FROM ''' + @PathFileName + ''' WITH (FIELDTERMINATOR ='','', FIRSTROW = 2, ROWTERMINATOR =''\n'')') Please note, I have edited file paths. sql-server sql-server-2005 tsql share|improve this question edited Nov 9 '10 at 11:34 asked Nov 9 '10 at 11:25 Abs 13.2k68208356 How are you "making use of BULK INSERT". Operating System Error Code 3 up vote 11 down vote favorite I'm trying to set up a Stored Procedure as a SQL Server Agent Job and it's giving me the following error, Cannot bulk load because the file "P:\file.csv" could not be opened. Operating system error code 3(failed to retrieve text for this error. Reason: 15105). [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 4861) http://stackoverflow.com/questions/19491812/cannot-bulk-load-because-the-file-could-not-be-opened-operating-system-error-co Funny thing is the Stored Procedure works just fine when I execute it manually. The drive P: is a shared drive on Windows SQL Server from LINUX via Samba Share and it was set up by executing the following command, EXEC xp_cmdshell 'net use P: "\lnxusanfsd01\Data" Password /user:username /Persistent:Yes' Any help on this would be highly appreciated sql-server stored-procedures samba sql-server-agent bulk-load share|improve this question asked Oct 21 '13 at 10:17 user1345260 45841227 1 Looks like a permissions issue. The SQL Server Agent usually runs as a different user / with different permissions compared to when you run it manually. Does the Agent work if the file is in a local directory? Is the the Agent also running the net use command? –acfrancis Oct 21 '13 at 10:50 The agent is not running the net use command. I haven't tested that as I don't have RDP access to the SQL Server –user1345260 Oct 21 '13 at 10:53 Well, does it work if you add the net use cmd to the Agent job? Without that, I'm pretty sure the P: drive will only be available in your username's Windows session, n

Operating system error code 3(The system cannot find the path specified.). Reply TabAlleman Star 10457 Points 2713 Posts Re: Operation system error code 3 while bulk insert May 04, 2012 09:40 AM|TabAlleman|LINK The error can't be any clearer. There is no such file path as the one you have specified. Now you must realize that when you execute this command on a sql server, it's looking for the file on your sql server, and not on your local box. So if you haven't already, you must put the file on your sql server, and then issue the command with the file-path on your sql server. If you already have the file on your sql server, then you simply got the file path wrong. Double and triple check it until you get it right and it works. -Tab Alleman Reply Mayil_Gilli Member 82 Points 272 Po
