For the most part. things are working well, however some users occasionally get an error dialog when trying to send an email message. The error message simply says 'Operation Failed' and the message will not send. Typically if they save it as a 'draft' and then open and close Outlook and then resend it from the drafts folder it will send ok. It is becoming a nuisance and not sure why it https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/28011106/Outlook-Operation-Failed-message-when-sending-mail.html is only happening to 2-3 users out of the 15-20 we recently converted to cache mode.... 0 Question by:snyperj Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 3 Best Solution byDhanukadam Symptoms: An Outlook client may receive an “Operation failed” error message in Outlook when the following conditions are true: - The client is Outlook 2007 or 2010 in online mode. My guess is that their .ost file did not build properly when you made the change over to cached exchange mode. Occasionally when an .ost file is building something happens during the process and the .ost file becomes corrupt. If you disable cached exchange mode, close Outlook, delete .ost, launch Outloook, close Outlook, re-enable cached exchange mode and let the .ost file rebuild. That should resolve the issue. 0 LVL 3 Overall: Level 3 Exchange 2 Outlook 2 Message Accepted Solution by:Dhanukadam2013-01-28 Symptoms: An Outlook client may receive an “Operation failed” error message in Outlook when the following conditions are true: - The client is Outlook 2007 or 2010 in online mode. Outlook 2010, "The Operation Failed" Sending emails Discussion in 'Using Outlook' started by Hugo Escobar, Sep 9, 2014. Previous Thread Next Thread Loading... 12345 0/5, 0 votes Hugo Escobar New Member I have a user who is receiving the error, "The Operation Failed" when https://forums.slipstick.com/threads/92622-outlook-2010-the-operation-failed-sending-emails/ sending emails to external contacts. I can fixed the problem by going to File -> Options -> Mail and click on the "Empty Auto-Complete List". I believe it's something with the email address format. When she copy\paste an email address on to a new email and tries to email it, she gets the error. If I empty auto-complete list again and types in the email address she is able to send emails without any error. I can copy\paste the email address to a notepad and operation failed then copy\paste the email address to a new email and works perfectly. Has anyone encounter the problem with copy\paste an email address and get the error, "The Operation Failed". Thanks. It still happens after Windows profile is deleted. Sep 10, 2014 Flag Post #3 Share Forum Admin Senior Member This is exchange, right? I know some imap servers have a problem with the single quotes outlook sometimes puts around an address but it should not affect exchange. what format is the address in? Any odd characters or unusual formatting? (like smtp=alias@domain) Sep 10, 2014 Flag Post #4 Share Hugo Escobar New Member Yes, this is Exchange 2010. SMTP. No add simple alias@domain format. What I did end up doing was editing the Cut. copy, and paste. Under File -> Options -> Mail -> Editor Options -> Advanced -> " Cut, Copy, and Paste". I change the pasting between emails when style definitions conflict to: Keep Text Only. Not sure if that was fix, but waiting on the user.
