I know I have enough space on disk and I also find a not from metalink saying that I need to specify set limit channel d1 kbytes 2024800 (as an examplem) and still does not work and getting same error messages. ORA-15080: synchronous I/O operation to a disk failed tips Oracle Database Tips http://www.orafaq.com/forum/t/64254/ by Burleson Consulting May 25, 2015 Question: I am getting this error, a ORA-15080, and my RAC node crashed after killing a session with an active transaction: ORA-15080: synchronous ora 27063 I/O operation to a disk failed WARNING: failed to write mirror side 1 of virtual extent 9084 logical extent 0 of file 266 in group 2 on disk 7 allocation unit 385054 How do I fix the ORA-15080 error? I am also seeing the ORA-27063 error: ORA-27063: number of bytes read/written is incorrectCause: the number of bytes read/written as ibm aix risc returned by aiowait does not match the original number, additional information indicates both these numbersAction: check errno Answer: The ORA-15080 error is an operating system error, normally caused when a part of the disk I/O subsystem is not operational. This could be an individual disk failure, and you will want to run the iostat utility against the disk to ensure that you are not experiencing I/O corruption. Your system administrator should immediately check your disks strace output and ensure that you can do dd-read and dd-write operations against file number 266. Only Oracle technical support will be able to give you the exact reasons for the node crash (likely a bug), but it is probably related to a sporadic disk hardware failure, that's my guess. Check for any trace or dump files that may have been created when the node crashed, and immediately check the surviving nodes to ensure that they are working properly. The oerr utility shows this for the ORA-15080 error: ORA-15080: synchronous I/O operation to a disk failedCause A syn

02 June 2006 08:58 sinistral Messages: 7Registered: November 2005 Junior Member I am getting this consistent error stack message from my backups on one of the two databases we have on this server. Server OS: Solaris 5.9 DB: Oracle 10gR2 (no patches) RMAN: Recovery Manager: Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Production the error stack is as follows: RMAN-00571: =========================================================== RMAN-00569: =============== ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS =============== RMAN-00571: =========================================================== RMAN-03002: failure of backup plus archivelog command at 06/02/2006 02:05:25 ORA-19501: read error on file "[filename]", blockno 320705 (blocksize=8192) ORA-27063: number of bytes read/written is incorrect Additional information: 221184 Additional information: 524288 What I read from the Oracle Error definitions is that this appears to be twice as large as it should be? How do I fix those tags on the dbf? Would a COALESCE fix this, or some other tablespace command? It seems to be able to be read from normally. This is a development database, so no HUGE issue that I know of, but I do not have a good backup of this database to recover the tablespace file from. We are currently running one datafile per tablespace. Thanks for any help S L Niemann Report message to a moderator Re: RMAN error ORA 27603 [message #175519 is a reply to message #175493] Fri, 02 June 2006 10:27 aciolac Messages: 242Registered: February 2006 Senior Member The only sense of this error - that Oracle cannot read some files of database. Possible that file are not on the disk(deleted, moved), but in controlfile definition of file exist. If You are changed physical structure of database, he are not automatically reflects in catalog database. For rman to be inline about new changes in database, you must to connect to your target(and catalog of course ) and execute command RMAN>resync catalog; Report message to a moderator Re: RMAN error ORA 27603 [message #175520 is a reply to message #175519] Fri, 02 June 2006 10:40 sini
