The QuickTime 7 player will only be present if a QuickTime Pro key was present at the time of installation, or if specified as part of a custom install, or individually downloaded.http://support.apple.com/kb/dl923Snow Leopard update 10.6.4 included an update to 7.6.6 (if installed). You can install it from the above link even though it says for 10.6.3. It's the same version of QuickTime Player 7.6.6.Only QuickTime Player 7.6.3 or 7.6.6 can be updated to "Pro". I cannot open .wmv files which are usually short video clips. I have downloaded "Flip4Mac" and I upgraded to "Pro". I have also downloaded VLC. Still they will not open. I get a screen that turns dark and has an icon that shows "loading" with an arrow around the number 30. It then acts like it will open and the box pops up that has the video name on it and it says "loading movie". It http://www.mac-forums.com/showthread.php?t=225376 then gives me "Operation couldn't be completed, OS Status error 128" it has a Q (quicktime) with a yellow triangle sign with an exclamation point in the middle. I also have Perian downloaded. I must be the 2% that has trouble. Anyone have an idea what I need to do to get this puppy to work? Thanks! The latest is version 2.3.6.5. Then go into System Preferences, Other, and find the Flip4Mac icon. Click on it and go through the setup. Most of it is self explanatory but if the correct boxes are not checked off, the WMV files and AVI files will not open and play. Also, Flip4Mac will launch QuickTime 10 automatically. I do not know what I am doing differently. Here is a detailed set of steps I am following for this video. My sequence setting is not a preset, I chose desktop mode and picked 30fps, 640x480 px, Square Pixel Aspect Ratio, Progressive(No Scan), and that was all I changed for the sequence. I'm not sure if that matters, but maybe I screwed up a setting I was supposed to click?I then edited my video and exported it in the following way.-Format: H.264-Multiplexer: MP4: Standard-Video: (I matched the sequence settings, I only changed the fps, width and height, and aspect ratio, and the fields to progressive)-Audio: made sure it was AAC, and switched it to monoAnd that is it.
