OK, I've got a decent http://www.tenforums.com/performance-maintenance/6147-out-memory-plenty-free.html PC here, but since the latest Windows Update and Nvidia driver update, I'm having a bit of http://askbobrankin.com/solving_the_out_of_memory_error.html an issue. Randomly, I will get an error that Windows is running out of memory and that I should close some programs to free RAM. Sadly, I usually have over half of my 16GB of RAM free when this error occurs. After the Nvidia driver update, I started to get some artifacts on the screen like you would see if the card was overheating. My card is out of sitting quite happily under 45C, so I'm pretty positive that wasn't the issue. I rolled the Nvidia drivers back to 352.63 and that resolved the artifacts and chrome crashing constantly. Still I continue to receive the out-of-memory errors and I cannot figure this out. I could see if the HD was getting full and there's wasn't room for the virtual memory. Except that both my 1TB drives in use are only at about 60% capacity each. I checked the virtual memory settings and it shows out of memory 8.7GB comitted of 32GB Allocated. (I've seen it go as far as 47GB allocated, not sure why it gets so high though when only 5GB was used then.) Attached is a Speccy report taken shortly after receiving the error. http://speccy.piriform.com/results/P...oDW1RaIMSv8Iyn My System Specs You need to have JavaScript enabled so that you can use this ... For example, there are User and GDI heaps. You can run out of these heaps long before you run out of physical or virtual memory. This is particularly bad if your software has res
Online College Solving the Out of Memory Error Category: Memory A reader asks: 'My computer is giving an Out of Memory error and I can't continue. Do I need to delete some files, get a new hard drive or is it something else?' Here's the solution to this common problem... Out of Memory? A number of different things can cause "out of memory" error messages. Lack of hard disk space is one of them, in some circumstances. But when your computer complains about not having enough memory, it's (almost always) referring to RAM -- the working memory that's installed on your computer's motherboard, not your hard hard drive. When you turn off your computer, everything in RAM memory goes away. Your hard drive is for permanent file storage. If you open a lot of programs at once, you may run into an "out of memory" error caused by something Microsoft calls "the desktop heap limitation" on Vista or Windows 7. Closing some of the open windows before retrying the program may help. But there's also a registry tweak that can eliminate the problem without having to pick and choose which programs remain open. See this Microsoft Support page for details and instructions on how to implement the fix. Also, you may run out of memory because you just don't have enough memory installed. Remember, this means RAM, and has nothing to do with the space available on your hard drive. If you have less than 1 GB of RAM, you can expect "out of memory errors" often. For Windows XP, 4 GB of RAM is ideal. You'll need a 64-bit version of Windows Vista or Windows 7 to make use of more than 4 GB of RAM. (To find out how much RAM you ahve, and if you have a 32 or 64-bit system, click Start > Control Panel > System and Maintenance > System.) Are you limping along with limited RAM memory? See my related article How to Upgrade Your Memory for help with the task of selecting and installing additional RAM memory in your desktop or laptop computer. Even if you only use one program at a time, an "out of memory" error ca
