Exchange Server > Exchange Server 2013 - Outlook, OWA, POP, and IMAP Clients Question 0 Sign in to vote Hi, I have a user that gets the following error when opening a reoccurring entry, we have applied the following fix but the issue has reoccurred again. Is there a limit to how high you canset the value, if so what are the implications? 1.Open regedit 2.Locate and then click the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeIS\ParametersSystem 3.On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click Key. 4.Type MaxObjsPerMapiSession, and then press ENTER. 5.On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value. Name the new value "objMessage" and set it's value to something higher than 250 (this limit shouldn't impact performance unless you have a script of some type that retrieves large numbers of messages at once; I'd probably set it to 500 or 1000 for now). Make sure you are setting the value in decimal. 6.Close Registry Editor". If so, you could be running into an interesting limit problem. Basically, with a recurring appointment each occurrence that has been modified is treated as an "open message". Exchange has a maximum value set for simultaneous open messages (250 by default) which can be modified in the registry. It's fairly easy to fix this and test it to
Subject: Cannot read one instance of this http://www.officefrustration.com/showthread.php?t=145347 recurring appointment Problem: Message Box from MS Office Outlook stating: Cannot read one outlook error instance of this recurring appointment. Close any open appointments and try again, or recreate the appointment. Resolution: By default, Exchange only allows 250 messages to be open outlook error cannot at any given time. There is a registry entry you can modify to change this limit on the Exchange server. Here is the Microsoft Technet article about the issue: http://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?id=830836 The object you want to modify is the objtMessage, and we recommend setting this limit to 600 to resolve this issue. If you have any appointments with more than 600 exceptions, you may need to set the limit higher to accomodate the number of exceptions you need to process.
