a mail problem where he has been receiving lots of spam email. His account can receive mail but no longer can send mail. All the settings have been verified as correct. The how do i find my ip address error message he gets when sending is something like: Sending reported error (0x800CCC78) Unable to send the message. Please verify the email address in account properties the server responded. 553.5.3.3 rejected HTTP: www.spamhaus.org/query/bl?ip=217.43.54.111 Same error whatever address is sent to. Anyone any ideas how to resolve ally31, Feb 12, 2008 #1 Sponsor eduperson Joined: Feb 8, 2008 Messages: 84 Your client's IP has mxtoolbox been blacklisted for possibly sending spam, or allowing others to do so. If your client has a mail server, it is also possible that relaying is enabled on it, allowing anyone on the internet to send mail via that server. If this is the case, first stop relaying on this server (except for the local network). Once your client's system is secure, you can follow the link in that email to SPAMHAUS. From there, click on the link to CBL (this is one of the main blacklisters on the web). On the CBL site, click on "Request delisting...." Since different email servers on the web may be configured to look at different blacklists, the change might take some time. Please note that getting repeatedly blacklisted will mean more hassle removing such a listing - it won't be as easy as clicking on a link. eduperson, Feb 12, 2008 #2 ally31 Thread Starter Joined: Oct 16, 2007 Messages: 175 Thanks eduperson. The first thing to know is: THE PBL IS NOT A BLACKLIST. You are not listed for spamming or for anything you have done. The PBL is simply a list of all of the world's dynamic IP space, i.e: IP ranges normally assigned by ISPs to broadband customers routers/modems (DSL, DHCP, PPP, cable, dialup). It is perfectly normal for these IP addresses to be listed on the PBL. In fact all dynamic IP addresses in the world should be on the PBL. Even static IPs which do not send mail should

As that IP address is indicated to be a "dynamic" address, when you re-connect you should be issued another - if Spamhaus has not blocked the whole range of IP addresses, (or at least your new one), the problem will go away (at least till they block it again :O ) --rlparker 05-09-2007, 04:58 AM Post: #5 adeel26in Dreamling Posts: 3 Joined: May 2007 Spamhaus error I will try it many times but all times, it's blocked by spamhaus. tell me there is anyway to bypass t

However, it claims there that my IP address is not really blacklisted and that all I need to do to unblock it is to make sure that SMTP Server Authentication is set for your email account. It wasn't set, so I set it (not sure why it worked before now so). Anyway, all mail still being blocked!! Really frustrating. Any help appreciated. 0 Quote Reply Results 1 to 4 of 4 Oldest first Newest first Best voted eir Mark Community Moderator You can see here how much appreciation eir Mark has received from other members. comments: 5469 4 years ago 5 September 2012, 11:44 1 Hi JoeV, To remove your IP address/email address from the block list, you first need to go here: http://www.whatsmyip.org/ This will give you your current IP address. (Top of page) You then need to go to this page: http://www.spamhaus.org/lookup/ You take the IP address from whatsmyip.org and enter it in the box that says "Enter an IP Address", Spamhaus will then remove the details from their database. If the above steps don't resolve the issue you would need to contact them directly. If you need any further info come back to us here and we'll see what else can be done. The Spamhaus site just let's you see whether or not you're listed. It doesn't remove your IP from the list. I was only listed on the PBL list and to remove the block from that list here's what they tell you to do ... this is from their site. ---------------------------- FROM SPAMHAUS Important: If you are using any normal email software (such as Outlook, Entourage, Thunderbird, Apple Mail, etc.) and you are being blocked by this Spamhaus PBL listing when you try to send email, the reason is simply that you need to turn on "SMTP Authentication" in your email program settings. ---------------------------- So I did all that and it was still blocking me. Then I saw the following in their FAQ .... ---------------------------- Spamhaus PBL - FAQ I have 'SMTP Authentication' switched ON but I'm still blocked! If you are absolutely sure that you have SMTP Authentication turned on properly
