If not, please check it firstly. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;906307 If all methods in the KB doesn’t work, it also can be caused by some incorrect registry key permission. To trace it, We can use Regmon tool(it can be downloaded from in MS sysinternal website) to trace if some access denied errors occurred during reproducing the issue. Out of nowhere she began getting this error when trying to compose a new message: "Microsoft Word is set to be your e-mail editor. However, Word is unavailable, not installed, or is not the same version as Outlook...You do not have permission to perform this operation." - Issue occurs for both the user and Administrator accounts - I've removed the Read-only flag on the Application Data folders - I've outlook error word uninstalled & reinstalled Office multiple times, manually deleting leftover files, folders & registry keys, though it is possible I missed something - I've ran the Removal Wizard Tool in the Office Resource Kit to remove any traces of previous versions of Office - I've ran the Windows Installer Cleanup utility - I've ran winword.exe /r from a command window Still no joy. Looking for any suggestions before I resort to more drastic measures. Reply Subscribe RELATED TOPICS: Outlook won't send email How to prevent outlook from opening email automatically? SystemsHome / Outlook / Email / Error: An OLE Registration Error Occurred Last reviewed on December 30, 2013 —3 Comments When you are using Word as your e-mail editor and receive the following error message: Microsoft Word is set to be your e-mail editor. However, Word is unavailable, not installed, or is not the same version as Outlook. The Outlook e-mail editor will be used instead. An OLE registration error occurred. The program is not correctly installed. Run Setup again for the program. To fix: Close all office applications and go to Start menu, Run (or use Windows key + R) and type (or copy and paste) Regsvr32 ole32.dll Press Enter or click OK to restart Outlook. In rare cases you may need to use the full path to the OLE32.dll and would use this command line: Regsvr32 %windir%\system32\ole32.dll Or, you need to use an elevated prompt, ie, you need to use 'run as administrator' To do this, type cmd in the start menu's search field or go to Start > All Programs > Accessories and locate Command Prompt Right-click on Command Prompt and then choose Run as administrator. At the prompt, type Regsvr32 ole32.dll MoreInformation Tip 403: Word is Unavailable Error (Outlook-tips.net) "An OLE registration error occurred" error message when you open an mail that contains embedded Lotus Notes document links in Outlook 2000 (MSKB) You receive the error message "Word is unavailable, not installed, or is not the same version as Outlook" when you try to create, to edit, or to reply to an e-mail message in Outlook 2003 (MSKB) You Receive a Warning Message or You Cannot Start Outlook on a Computer That Is Running Small Business Server and Exchange Server (MSKB) Problem: WordMail Busy or Unavailable (Slipstick.com) Error: Interface not registered (Slipstick.com) Explanation of Regsvr32 usage and error messages (MSKB)
