Solved "Memory overflow error" when trying to boot from Windows XP disc when beginning reformat Posted on 2003-06-13 Hardware Components 5 Verified Solutions 10 Comments 6,971 Views Last Modified: 2012-05-04 I get this "system overflow error memory overflow error" when I try to boot from my Windows XP Professional disc. All I'm wanting to do is reformat my drive, and it happens at least 2 to three times every time I try it. Then roughly around the third time, after shutting the computer off for a bit, it works. When the error message comes up (it happens right after the boot screen tells me to press an key to boot memory overflow error from CD), it forces me to restart my computer, then usually does it again until luck finally seems to be on my side. It seems like it only works successfully when I turn my computer off for roughly 5 minutes. I have two drives on my computer. A CD-RW drive and a DVD-ROM drive. One time I tried it over and over through the CD-RW drive, then finally put it in the DVD-ROM drive, and it worked. These are both new drives and work perfectly with everything else, so I kinna doubt that it has to do with this memory overflow problem. My PC is the following: A7N8X Deluxe motherboard 2 512MB Corsair Xtreme Memory sticks (dual channel mode) Athlon XP 3000+ Enermax 430W PS Audigy 2 Platinum Tyan Tachyon 9700 Pro Sony 52X CD-RW Sony DVD-ROM I even ran into this problem building a computer for a friend who has the same motherboard, an XP 1800+, and 1G of Samsung (2 512MB sticks in dual channel). Has a 350W PS that I'm not sure of the brand. Is there something I don't have set right in the BIOS? The A7N8X has been good to me otherwise. I just don't understand this. I shouldn't have to worry about this problem. There must be something I'm overlooking. Any help would
