The sensor is located fairly deep under the intake and can be difficult to remove and replace. I share in this video how I got the job done, quick and easy with some small hand help! Most times the knock sensor code will only be realized when using a scanner to detect there is an issue. I was scanning for an unrelated problem when i found code P0325. The check engine light was NOT on indicating a problem. I had a diagnostic run and the code came back P0325 - Knock Sensor Failure. The estimate for repair is $630 (including the $95 diagnostic charge). The light came on over 5 weeks ago. Before I could get it in to the shop to have it looked at, the entire electrical system shut down while driving. Before replacing a knock sensor because of an apparent OBDII failure, be aware that several vehicle models have engine management systems that will display a code that is not related to the actual problem that caused the emissions test failure. The chart below shows the Top Ten OBDII Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) captured at the enhanced St. Louis area emissions testing facilities.
