a problem that occurred with your paging file configuration when you started your computer. The total paging file size for all disk windows has created a temporary paging file windows 10 drives may be somewhat larger than the size you specified. Solution: In this case, the page file had grown too large and corrupted itself. I was able to resolve the issue by deleting the pagefile.sys file and having Windows https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SmA48nRjAY recreate it from scratch. Here are the steps on how to complete this task. Click Start, right-click Computer, and select Properties In the left pane, select Advanced system settings On the Advanced tab, click the Settings button under Performance On the Advanced tab, click the Change button under Virtual memory Clear the Automatically manage paging file size for all drives check box and check No paging file Click Set button next to No paging http://jackstromberg.com/2014/01/windows-7-windows-created-a-temporary-paging-file-on-your-computer-because-of-a-problem-that-occured-with-your-paging-file-configuration-when-you-started-your-computer/ file Click OK on all open windows and restart your machine Open up Windows Explorer Navigate to the root of your system drive (C:\) Enable the showing of System Files On the View menu, click Options On the View tab, click Show All Files, and then click OK Delete the pagefile.sys file Click Start, right-click Computer, and select Properties In the left pane, select Advanced system settings On the Advanced tab, click the Settings button under Performance On the Advanced tab, click the Change button under Virtual memory Check the Automatically manage paging file size for all drives checkbox and click OK Restart your machine Bookmark on Delicious Digg this post Recommend on Facebook share via Reddit Share with Stumblers Tweet about it Subscribe to the comments on this post Print for later Bookmark in Browser Tell a friend This entry was posted in Uncategorized and tagged error, paging file configuration, windows 7 on January 21, 2014 by Jack. Before this, my setup consisted of: 1x SSD [C] 2x HDD [D & E] I moved the paging file off of the SSD and onto the D drive to reduce writes onto the paging file SSD. Recently, in order to keep GPU temps under control, I removed the drive cages in my case to allow unobstructed airflow to the cards, meaning I had to mount my SSD behind the motherboard and put my HDDs in an external enclosure. This is where the problem started. After some digging, it just seems like it takes too long to find the external HDDs during boot so Windows creates the paging file on the only drive it detects created a temporary in that time frame - the SSD. The thing is, even when I disable the paging file entirely, it the message still pops up, but just not every single time. When I create a small paging file on the SSD, the problem goes away but that's the one thing I wanted to avoid. How can I get rid of the message whilst keeping the paging file off the SSD? OS is Win8.1 Pro and external enclosure is connected via USB 3 More about : windows creating temporary paging file dodger46 a c 496 * Windows 8 22 June 2014 13:10:11 Given that the speed of a paging file on an external HDD is way less than that of DDR3 RAM it's going to be worse than useless, just do without. (Provided you have at least 4Gb RAM and don't run any progs that can't do without a Paging File!) See http://www.thessdreview.com/ssd-guides/optimization-gui... m 0 l 1kca 22 June 2014 14:00:23 I have 16GB RAM and when I ran the system without one in the past, I didn't run into any problems but when I do disable it, it doesn't seem to stop the message permanently. It will still appear on boot, telling me it's created a paging file larger than I specified but then it will list the paging file size as 0MB I've run a disk cleanup but admittedly not a boo

I have attempted to fix the issue using the command "sc config afs start= disabled" but the afs service does not exist. I also check for an existing pagefile.sys to attempt deletion but it does not exist either. Edit: How do I fix it? windows-7 windows pagefile share|improve this question edited May 16 '14 at 19:32 asked May 16 '14 at 17:50 user324325 1113 1 There's no question in your question. Did you do anything to the paging file recently? –Wutnaut May 16 '14 at 17:57 Try this: Turn off your paging file(s) on all drives, reboot, and re-enable it (you'll probably have to reboot again). Help any? –Ƭᴇcʜιᴇ007 May 16 '14 at 17:58 How do you fix it should be implied by me posting on here.. pretty sure you caught that by stating there is no question.. in my question. And no I did nothing to the pagefile. I have tried to set it numerous times but on reboot it has the same error. –user324325 May 16 '1
