We had also tried several power downs, restarts, and removing the newer drive. share|improve this answer answered Sep 11 '11 at 10:19 Scott Szretter 95583255 Any reason why you did not call Dell? –Nils Sep 22 '11 at 21

Solved PCI training error slot 1 system halted Posted http://serverfault.com/questions/310041/dell-poweredge-pcie-training-error-what-to-do on 2013-08-02 Server Hardware 1 Verified Solution 5 Comments 7,973 Views Last Modified: 2013-09-04 I have a customer that has a Dell PowerEdge 840 that does not boot up. We are getting the error PCI training error. If we remove the PCI card, the server turns on and we can enter the bios normally. I have recommended to the https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/28202355/PCI-training-error-slot-1-system-halted.html customer that the server needs to be replaced but we need to extract the data. If we were to find a used or new controller, assuming it is the controller that is bad, does this particular controller model save the raid configs on the drives? The device is a USC-51 (E2K-USC-51 (B) I think this would be the cheapest and quickest solution to get the server booted up. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated. 0 Question by:ptsolutionsinc Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 46 Active 1 day ago Best Solution bydlethe If you still can't get it to work, then you can get a non-RAID controller and buy yourself a copy of runtime.org 's RAID reconstructor software. Boot system to windows and plug those disks into it, Go to Solution 5 Comments LVL 46 Overall: Level 46 Server Hardware 28 Message Active 1 day ago Expert Comment by:dlethe2013-08-02 First try another slot and check the card in a different computer. If that doesn't work, reset the BIOS to factory settings and try again. 0
X (or Embedded I/O Bridge device X) System Halted Try removing any add-in card and boot the server. If the server is booting correctly, then it's probably the add-in card! If the problem persist, try http://www.itechlounge.net/2011/12/dell-servers-pcie-training-error/ to completely remove the riser card. Now it should work. In such case, the riser card and the motherboard as well may be damaged. Be Sociable, Share! Tweet Category: Servers About Kaven G. Or it could be the Card itself is malfunctioning. I'm guessing here that you have a IDE card connected to the Raiser card with raid harddrives on it, One of them is malfunctioning.
