This system contains:Corsair 550w PSUASUS M4A78 PRO MotherboardAMD Athlon X2 Black Edition (2.71Ghz)2 G Corsair XMS DDR2 RAM (800mhz)Nvidia 8800GTVarious case fansWD 320 HDDI'm using an old hard drive to install a fresh copy of Win on the PC. Everytime I try to boot up the Windows XP CD and re-format the drive, i get an error 'file pci.sys caused an unexpected error (4096) at line 5964 in D:\xpsprtm\base\boot\setup\setup.c. Press any key to continue.' I've disabled all power management, usb support, and the proprietary 'cool 'n quiet' asus programs controlled by the bios to no avail. please, i'm at a complete loss as i can't install my OS of choice! I know my CD ROM drive is OK. Turns out i found another xp CD laying around!! And it booted up, no problems, and am formatting the drive as i post this. On another note, i don't believe the CD that I had contained all the files that it should have as the new one took longer to boot and loaded much more files than the previous. THANKS! You made my day! I never thought a scratched CD could cause so many problems
