May 21, 2014 4:10 AM We have a specific document we need printing with a lot of graphics, however when printing to our HP Laserjet 400 printer - it brings up PCL XL errors like IllegalFontData, I think the PDF was created in InDesign. 6079Views Tags: none (add) acrobatContent tagged with acrobat, pdfContent tagged with pdf, indesignContent tagged with pcl xl error illegal tag indesign, printingContent tagged with printing, hp printerContent tagged with hp printer, pcl xlContent tagged with pcl xl This content has been marked as final. Re: PDF brings PCL XL Errors michael_northdakota May 22, 2014 2:38 AM (in response to pwillener) Hello,Yes I've tried that and it does work, however we send these PDFs to all in our team and unfortunately we can't ask everyone to go into their Advanced settings and Print as Image every time we send a PDF it's just not reasonable for them to do, and we have a lot in our team. So within InDesign we have decided to Print the Indesign file to PDF instead of exporting it and then print the PDF as it is - it seems to have worked. Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 3. A user who is running Windows 7 32 bit edition is sending files to print (using the secure print function) - the system is reporting they have spooled fine to the printer - but when they go and release the document they are getting (more often than not) about 16 out of 21 pages (for example) and then a PCL pcl xl error XL Error (Subsystem: Text, InternalError 0x50, Operator: Text, Position: 8564). I have another document that 9 times out of ten will actually crash the WorkCentre completely and cause it to reboot mid way through printing. The driver we are using is the latest: "Xerox WorkCentre 7655 rev 2.0 PCL6"As mentioned the user is running Windows 7 - the printer is shared from a Windows 2003 Server which has the same version of the driver.Any suggestions from anyone?Kind regards,Luke Solved! Everything seems to work (so far) if on the printing preferences advanced tab I set "Advanced Printing Features" to Disabled.Would be nice to know why this causes issues when enabled, especially as by default the driver has it set to enabled when installed! 3.click on the general tab and click on ‘printing preferences. 4.click on the ‘advanced' tab and disable the ‘print optimizations. You can also add it as a Local Printer with "new port" TCP/IP thats my workaround. Share this:PrintFacebookEmailRedditLinkedInGoogleTwitterPocketPinterestTumblrLike this:Like Loading...
