We have a HP Laserjet 4050 printer, networked. One Windows 2000 machine keeps erroring when ever a print job is submitted. The error is as follows:PCL XL ErrorSubsystem: KERNELError: IllegalStreamHeaderOperator: 0x0Position: 0Anyone come across this problem before? We're tried re-installing the drivers.Any comments or suggestions will be welcome.Roadstone RE: PCL XL error - IllegalStreamHeader Jomama46 (TechnicalUser) 11 Nov 03 10:31 Try using a PCL 5 driver instead. The error is essence is that the image is too complex for the printer or is requiring more memory than the printer has. You could try, for example, removing some of the formatting, shading, bolding, etc. There was a similar topic on this subject here but I coulnt find it.

the reports they look fine. If I previewthe reports then hit the print button in the previewtoolbar, they print fine. If, however I go straightto the printer withREPORT FORM myrpt.frx NOCONSOLE TO PRINTERA single page prints from the printer with:PCL XL errorSubsystem: KERNELError: IllegalStreamHeaderOperator: http://microsoft.public.fox.programmer.exchange.narkive.com/poz4xVag/printing-error-illegalstreamheader 0x0Position: 0This happens on reports with just simple text and linesas well as reports having http://www.pcreview.co.uk/threads/illegal-stream-header.549309/ images and complex layout.Rebooting the PC has fixed the problem, but I am wonderingwhat caused this and if there is something I need to fix orbe aware of. I've heard of corrupted images doing this toHP drivers, but I have no such problem. And being able toprint from the preview but not directly seems very odd.-- TRW_______________________________________t r pcl xl w 7ati x dot n e t c o m dot c o m_______________________________________ Dan Freeman 2005-09-02 16:19:26 UTC PermalinkRaw Message Usually, it's the other way around.
