error where the CPU usage goes to its limits and JBoss needs a restart (java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space). I found a solution for older JBoss version to increase the MaxPermSize. I guess the same goes for JBoss7. Which value would be good enough in order not to face any problem again? Is there any way to get permanently away from this problem (like lets say use a different VM like JRockit)? java.lang.outofmemoryerror permgen space in jboss server java-ee jboss webserver jboss7.x share|improve this question edited Nov 16 '12 at 7:39 Craig Ringer 134k19224307 asked Jul 25 '12 at 9:17 MaVRoSCy 11k94785 1 This really shouldn't be happening on AS 7 unless you're deploying a lot of big classes. Because of its modular classloader, JBoss AS 7 shouldn't suffer from classloader leaks which - combined with multiple redeploys during testing - are the most common cause of this problem on other servers. Do you get these errors only after lots of redeploys? Under what circumstances? –Craig Ringer Jul 31 '12 at 3:16 we have been testing our applications and during this phase we had extensive redeploys . And out of nowhere this problem struck –MaVRoSCy Jul 31 '12 at 5:36 Interestingly enought, I'm running the JBoss 7.1.1 on my windows server as a service. In this scenario, after the deployment it's dead. Running the server from standalone.bat, works solid as on my development machine. –feder Sep 8 '13 at 21:11 add a comment| 3 Answers 3 active oldest votes up vote 46 down vote accepted Since this happens after multiple redeploys it sounds like you've encountered a classloader leak, a common kind of permgen leak. AM by Imantas Imantas java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space shawn aslam Jun 13, 2011 1:23 PM I found this error even java.lang.outofmemoryerror permgen space eclipse when deploying the application or now when application is running. I read all the discussion on this topic and changed the run.conf's JAVA_OPT of jboss 5.0.1ga (on window) as belowJAVA_OPTS="-Xms128m -Xms512m http://stackoverflow.com/questions/11646483/jboss-7-java-lang-outofmemoryerror-permgen-space -XX:PermSize=128m -XX:MaxPermSize=512m -XX:+CMSClassUnloadingEnabled -Dorg.jboss.resolver.warning=true -Dsun.rmi.dgc.client.gcInterval=3600000 -Dsun.rmi.dgc.server.gcInterval=3600000"In the start problem resolved but now after 5 days application stop working and when i check the logs it start giving this error. So this statement for the time being is not the permanent solution and i need to do something to put the fix.Somewhere I found that changing this line in run.conf will not have any effect https://developer.jboss.org/thread/167970 in window server. So should i need to make this change in the run.bat if yes then where should i write this line? secondly is there anything I need to make change in the JAVA_OPTS above statement? Re: java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: PermGen space Miklós Kasza Jun 13, 2011 7:34 PM (in response to shawn aslam) Hello Shawn,MaxPermSize of 512m should be more than enough for the most applications, so you may be right in that the AS might ignore your desired settings.Simply put, the file run.conf is used only when running the AS under Unix-like systems (by starting the script named run.sh).On Windows systems run.bat (together with run.conf.bat in later AS versions) can be used for launching the AS.Additionally, as a rule of thumb you should tamper only with jvm options you are familiar with (e.g., memory-related ones) others can be safely left at defaults. Otherwise they may affect the performance of your application in a negative way.You can write your additions anywhere near the original lines sta
