You can open and edit this image but you will not be able to print it as is. For more information, select the information button below for Internet-based information on restrictions for copying and distributing banknote images or go to rulesforuse.org. I opened the image with another editor, re-saved it and no success. I tried with another image from Wikipedia and it worked. I searched for an explanation and what i found so far is EURion rings. Maybe there are other algorithms. The EURion constellation is a pattern of symbols incorporated into a number of banknote designs worldwide since about 1996. It is added to help imaging software detect the presence of a banknote in a digital image. Such software can then block the user from reproducing banknotes to prevent counterfeiting using colour photocopiers. Research shows that the EURion constellation is used for color photocopiers and is likely not used for computer software. Now I know why this happens, but does anyone know how to bypass this Photoshop security, asside installing viral patches? Counterfeit currency can also undermine confidence in the payment system, making the public uncertain about accepting cash for transactions. The Central Bank Counterfeit Deterrence Group (CBCDG) is responsible for this website. A counterfeit deterrence system (CDS) has been developed by the CBCDG to deter the use of personal computers, digital imaging equipment, and software in the counterfeiting of banknotes. The CDS has been voluntarily adopted by hardware and software manufacturers, and prevents personal computers and digital imaging tools from capturing or reproducing the image of a protected banknote. The technology does not have the capacity to track the use of a personal computer or digital imaging tools. If so, you’re probably familiar with your device’s uncanny ability to spot a banknote, and prevent any kind of editing. How does it do that? Well, no-one’s really sure, but here’s a good explainer of what we do know. DON’T MISS:You can tryPlayStation VR at these retailers starting tomorrow YouTuber Wendoverproductions has a good breakdown of the history of banknotes and counterfeiting. It used to be the case that all major currencies hid a symbol, called the EURion constellation, it theirnotes. It was first spotted in the Euro banknotes in 2002, and carefully hunting has found it in everything from the United States dollar to the Ugandan shilling. These days, there’s something far more impressive (and secretive) preventing photocopying. As the video demonstrates, Photoshop will recognize everything from an entire banknote, to just the tiniest fragment of a $20 note. The strict laws surrounding fake currency also lead to some entertaining (and annoying) situations in the entertainment industry. You can’t use fake money on screen, so most of the briefcases of cash you see in movies are actually legit. There are some workarounds, though: you can use money that’s substantially bigger or smaller than the real thing, or make a brick of green paper with real notes top and bottom. You might think that rules surrounding money are a little overkill, but remember that in the US, it’s the Secret Service that handles counterfeit money, and they’re not famed for their sense of humor.
