I keep getting the message 'could not complete your request because of program error'. I am working on Photoshop CS2 on Windows XP Professional. The files will save as TIFFs and PSD files but not JPEGs. Photoshop will save everything else but not these particular images. I have read other threads and tried some of the ideas and it hasn't made a difference.Any advice?Thank you! Where are they coming from? Do they contain any specific color profiles or metadata? If you have tried my solution and it does not work but have figured it out a different way, please share in comments below so hopefully it can help the next person :-) Thanks!http://yanhuangme.com/my-videos/photo... Did you encounter a "Could not complete your request because of a program error." pop up while you were trying to make changes or save a PSD in Adobe Photoshop? This is definitely a bug in Photoshop that is annoying and does not provide much to go off in terms of troubleshooting. While there could be many reasons for this error to occur, one of the common reasons is the PSD you are working with uses a different Type Engine than what your Photoshop is set to operate on. In order to resolve this problem so you can save to the PSD, you would go to Edit / Preferences / Type and change the Type Engine from East Asian to Middle Eastern and restart Photoshop. I checked it out and http://www.retouchpro.com/forums/photoshop-help/28811-unable-save-file-jpeg-totally-baffled.html the problem is that whenever she tries to open a file or make a new one, the program comes up with: "Adobe Photoshop Could not complete your request due to a program error." I virus scanned, uninstalled/installed photoshop cs2 the Photoshop more than 5 times, restarted the computer a million times, and nothing came up. Plus, I tried looking for an answer on Google but all that came up was stuff for Macs. Anyone wanna help out? Oh yeah its a Windows Vista Home Basic 32-bit, Dell Inspiron 1525 kaihou, Aug 2, 2009 #1 Sponsor fairnooks Banned Joined: Oct 1, 2007 Messages: 5,251 I would try creating a new user profile with photoshop cs2 program admin rights and see if Photoshop will behave normally from that user account. If it does then its something about the user profile giving it fits. If not then the program must be corrupt or there is something system-wide that interfers with that function. Maybe try disabling DEP but that's just a guess to try. There's plenty of free space on the drive? fairnooks, Aug 2, 2009 #2 kaihou Thread Starter Joined: Jan 24, 2009 Messages: 17 Well, I found out that it works on the Guest user profile... so what the heck do I do now? Oh yeah there's a lot of space on the drive. And I have no idea what a DEP is xD kaihou, Aug 2, 2009 #3 slipe Joined: Jun 27, 2000 Messages: 6,832 Try Ctrl+Alt+Shift when you boot the program. It should let you reset to preferences to default. That might not fix the problem, but it is an easy thing to try. slipe, Aug 2, 2009 #4 kaihou Thread Starter Joined: Jan 24, 2009 Messages: 17 Nope. Nothing happens when I press Ctrl+Alt+Shift :/ kaihou, Aug 2, 2009 #5 kaihou Thread Starter Joined: Jan 24, 2009 Messages: 17 Actually, I tried it again and something about "Scratch Disk" or something popped up and I changed the first two settings from "Startup" to "C:

Unable to save file as jpeg? Totally baffled Hi everyone. I am hoping that someone can offer some suggestions. I have finished a restoration and, as always, I have created a lower res, watermarked copy to email to my client for approval. For some reason however, Photoshop (CS2) will not allow me to save the file as a jpeg. The error message I receive is "cannot complete your request because of a program error." I tried saving the same file as a jpeg on my laptop which is also running CS2 and received the same error message. I have been working on other images today without any issues so can only guess that there is some corruption in the file itself? I am able to save as a TIFF file without any problems. I also just tried saving as a jpeg Using PSE7 and it worked fine. I am totally baffled. Any suggestions? Thanks Carol Carol Heath View Public Profile Visit Carol Heath's homepage! Totally baffled Take a look at the bits/channel under Image-> Mode to see if it is 8 bits or 16 bits. Might not have option to save as jpeg if 16 bits. I just googled for an answer and found this as an answer for similar problems, although it wouldn't explain why you were able to save it in PSE7. There are some folks here with great knowledge, so if this isn't the answer, hopefully someone will have one for you. Last edit
