I have Photoshop CS3 as part of the Master Collection that I upgraded to from the old Macromedia Studio MX. But recently, Photoshop CS3 crashes on start-up and returns the following error: "Adobe Photoshop CS3 has stopped working"I am running it on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit on a system with the following specs:CPU: Intel® Core™i7 Processor Extreme Edition i7-975 (3.33GHzRAM: 12 GBGraphics Card: 2GB ATI RADEON™ HD 5970 PCI EXPRESS - DirectX® 11HDD: 2x 500 GBI tried running it under various compatibility modes, but alas, no luck - stops right at the same problem.I've noticed that it crashes where the loading screen says 'building TWAIN Menus'. The software has been working without a hitch righ up until i tried installing my drivers for my old Dell all in one printer/scanner. These DID have compatibility issues, but I cant find it anywhere on my system to remove them. Or I might;ve removed them when applying a fix to remove it. So I guess, it's the scanner software that is doing it. (hence I might've answered my own question).Has anyone experienced this problem? perhaps even with thier own printer/scanners etc? Any ideas

Photoshop CS3 crash / freeze problem After I did the last round of software updates to Adobe's Creative Suite 3 Web Premium edition, PhotoShop CS3 http://doctorgeek.blogspot.com/2007/10/solution-for-photoshop-cs3-crash-freeze.html Extended cease to act like the PhotoShop program I have used for years. Same symptoms. And updating produced this error message:"Updating cannot be applied to a product. Adobe Version Cue Client 3.1 failed to install. Reinstall the product and try again."Reinstalling PhotoShop AND Version Cue produced the same error message and PhotoShop crashes.Adobe tech supportThe first call to Adobe's Saturday tech support photoshop cs3 startup was useless. I will forgo the details here.A search through Adobe's Knowledge base lead to a ten-page 8/10/07 Technote on "Troubleshoot system errors or freezes in Photoshop CS3 on Mac OS." After going through the beginning and some intermediate trouble-shooting steps, I stopped at #17 (Optimize hard disks) after reading Adobe's disclaimer about not supporting third party disk utilities. I haven't found a disk utility beyond Apple's Disk Utility that I trust.... I finished my need-it-tomorrow photo editing and printing using Apple iPhoto '08 and decided to worry about PhotoShop on Monday. (iPhoto's a decent program, especially in a pinch.)The second call to Adobe's tech support on Monday was also fruitless. I waited for 20 minutes in the "long cue" to talk to Christopher who suggest that there might be a software conflict. He recommended that I try turn on the computer in Safe Boot mode (hold the shift key while turning the computer on) to eliminate software conflicts. And if that didn't work, create a new admin account and try a safe boot again, opening PhotoShop in the new admin account. I asked for a case number to avoid the long wait should I n

Last night i was making a few shirt designs with my friend, but i closed photoshop and tried to re-open it about 15 minutes lateri got a system error that forced me to close the processi tried illustrator to see if the problem occured there too and the same error closed illustratorthe error occurs during the initialization process for photoshop before it even loads fonts and brushesthen today i had some time so i uninstalled my adobe products and attempted to reinstallthe install went flawlessly but the problem still occurs with photoshop and illustrator anywayim using windows xp sp2 with all the latest updates as of 5/18/07 3pmive taken screenshots of the errorshttp://www.pacificx....ur3l/error1.JPGhttp://www.pacificx....ur3l/error2.JPGhttp://www.pacificx....ur3l/error3.JPGbecause it lists gdiplus.dll as the modname in the error signature, i downloaded a copy of gdiplus.dll from a site and placed it in both the windows/system32 and windows/system folders because i could not figure out the exact locationthere werent any original gdiplus.dll files in either directory though so i believe i may be wrongi also tried searching the windows folder for gdiplus.dll and it crashed explorer.exe so maybe my windows installation became corruptedthanks for reading this long post and thanks in advance for the help =D Edited by squr3l, 18 May 2007 - 05:13 PM.
