Join Now Hi all, Came into work this morning to find my HP ML330 (main server running as file server post error and CRM for the business) was stuck in a boot cycle and was displaying a non-system disk error. Phoned HP support and spent an hour going through various tests etc using the SmartStart CD. The machine is running 4 x 1Tb in RAID1+0. The Controller (P410) is workling fine and one of the drives is showing a steady amber light. I was not able to re-enable the Raid post error 1779 array and the last thing that HP could recommend over the phone was to send out a replacement drive. Removing the drive did not help and there seemed to be no way to re-enable the array. The backup is showing as being successful but I am nervous to say the least. So I have been looking at data recovery solutions. Not cheap, but equally our data is valuable to us. Any one know of any good reliable data recovery companies in the UK, preferably East Midlands / South Yorkshire etc? Alternatively does anyone have any suggestions as to things as yet untried to ressurect the dead drive? Thank you! As they are hot-pluggable, the RAID array rebuild should start shortly after the replacement. A thing to mention: the amber light and the error-messages may be also present AFTER replacement of the bad drive - this only means that you do not have full redundancy until the rebuild is complete (and does not mean that the replacement drive is bad too).
