One of the drives died and was replaced about three months ago. The server has not been rebooted until now. Does this mean the RAID is not working and the drive has never rebuilt? How do I check without rebooting the server if the raid is okay, HP Drive Array Utility does not open but the log file does. Will the log display something when the drive is rebuilt? Sorry this is an inherited server and some off the management apps do not appear to be working. Any way I can check this safely would be great. Get the correct make/model of disk and while system is still turned on just yank out the bad one and put in the replacement. Rebuild should be automatic. If it does not automatically start then we can take it from there. The controller drivers & mgmt software are not an issue as this is something that is done in the controller firmware. You NEVER want to mess with drivers, firmware, or software on a degraded array. The job is to get that array optimal and online first before rocking the boat. Otherwise you risk 100% data loss 0 LVL 46 Overall: Level 46 Storage 29 Server Hardware 28 Message Active today Assisted So

Following some research it appears that the error is related to a failed, or failing drive. My concern is that there are only two drives in this server and both are displaying "healthy" blinking green lights. I am assuming these drives are mirrored but https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/27837945/Possible-drive-failure-POST-Error-1786-Drive-Array-Recovery-Needed.html i am not 100%. How can i tell? Also, how do i know which drive is failing? thank you 0 Question by:LenCepeda Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 55 Active today Best Solution byandyalder Looks good to me too, if a drive did fall asleep it's rebuilt automatically which isn't in written in the ADU report. I don't see the need to do anything although it wouldn't hurt to reboot when time Go to Solution 7 Comments LVL 55 Overall: Level 55 Server Hardware 42 Storage 39 Storage Hardware 21 Message Active today Expert Comment by:andyalder2012-08-22 Pressing F1 should initiate automatic rebuild. What's probably happened is one of the disks went offline (could have been weeks ago) and then when rebooted both disks are seen again but the controller knows one of them was previously down as it writes that in the metadata of the remaining disk. If you can upload an Array Diagnostic Utility report **as attachment, not pasted in thread** we can check through it. 0 LVL 5 Overall: Level 5 Message Active 5 days ago Expert Comment by:Feroz Ahmed2012-08-22 Hi, Yo can run Checkdsk or Scandisk from command prompt using Admin privileges.or through disk management. 0 Message Author Comment by:LenCepeda2012-08-22 Thanks for the feedback.
