Cannot Start Print Spooler Windows 7
Server > Directory Services Question 0 Sign in to vote I have a lab configured with error 1053 print spooler not starting a single domain controller and one client server. Both servers are Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard and the functional level of the domain is Windows Server 2008
Can't Start Print Spooler
R2. After I promoted the domain controller, I did not make any changes to the default domain policy GPO. My problem is this: I created a Managed Service Account and a regular user account and tried to use both of these accounts as logon accounts for the "Disk Defragmenter" service on my client print spooler won't start server and domain controller. Each time it failed with the following error: In the system event log: I also tried moving the client server into a custom OU and blocked inheritance of all parent GPOs, but this did not work either...same error. I'm assuming the problem lies with the Default Domain group policy and Default Domain Controllers group policy, I'm just not sure which setting. I'm at a complete loss, so any help is greatly appreciated. jason UPDATE: after further testing, I am receiving the same errors even when the server is not joined to a domain. After a fresh install of Windows Server 2008 R2, I created a local user and used that account as the logon account for several services. When I started the services, I received the same error. could not start Print Spooler service on local computer. Error 1068. Discussion in 'Hardware' started by droonbait, Aug 30, 2012. droonbait Private E-2 I have an Acer http://forums.majorgeeks.com/index.php?threads/windows-could-not-start-print-spooler-service-on-local-computer-error-1068.265138/ Aspire M3910 desktop PC running Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit version. The processor is an Intel i3 540 @3.07 GHz, and the system has 7 GB RAM. Until recently my printer has been working normally, but now it will not print. When I try to print I get the message "No printers are installed. To install a printer, point to Settings on the Windows Start menu, click print spooler Printers and then double click Add Printer. Follow the instructions in the wizard" - which since I have an Epson SX 535WD already installed seems a little unhelpful. On going into Services in the Win 7 Computer Management module (Start, right click on "Computer" and then "Manage" in the dropdown menu), I find that the Print Spooler is not started. When trying to restart from the dropdown menu spooler windows 7 appearing after a right-click on "Print Spooler", I get the following message: "Windows could not start the Print Spooler service on Local Computer. Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start." On checking on the Print Spooler Properties, and the dependencies tab, the following box appears. The Remote Procedure Call service is set to Automatic and is started. It does not therefore seem to be the problem. I cannot find any entry in the services for the HTTP entry. I am stumped as to how to get the print spooler to restart and would appreciate any help anyone can offer. I should add that I have read all the threads dealing with similar problems that the forum offered, but none seemed to help. Most are relating to systems using much older operating systems anyway. Note RPC has two sub-entries: DCOM Server Process Launcher and RPC Endpoint Mapper Then BV also states that FAX and LPD Service are needed for Print Spooler to function properly.
