I had a Canon MP780 printer already installed but the printer portion of it stopped working, though the scanning portion of it still works. I tried to install the Windows 7 drivers for HP Photosmart C4400 but the keep telling me that there is an error with my printer spooler. I have gone into the spooler properties and everything looks set up right but when I try to manually start it I receive the same message. I am just looking for a fix so that I can print. I don't care how the fix occurs or if I use another program as long as it doesn't effect the rest of my computer and I don't have to pay an arm and leg for a simple fix like Dell and Microsoft want me to do. To do this, click Start, click All Programs, click Accessories, right-click Command Prompt, and then click Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow. Type the following command, and then press ENTER: sfc /scannow The sfc /scannow command scans all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with correct Microsoft versions. This is how to use sfc /scanow http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833Good LuckHope you find the info useful Wednesday, January 20, 2010 4:34 PM Reply | Quote 0 Sign in to vote Did the fix work? I am having the same issue on my pc. I've tried everything from the sfc /
3 in Windows When you open Devices and Printers applet, none of your printers may be listed. Running the Printer Troubleshooter may show that the Print Spooler service isn't running, and attempts to start the Print Spooler service manually via Services MMC or using the Microsoft Printer Troubleshooter Fix-It may turn out to be futile, showing up one of the following errors:Windows could not start the Print Spooler service on Local Computer.Error 2: The system cannot find https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/186dc55d-b423-4624-808c-07f1f177fb83/printer-spooler-error-2the-system-cannot-find-the-file-specified?forum=itprovistahardware the file specified.-or-Windows could not start the Print Spooler service on Local Computer.Error 3: The system cannot find the path specified. Obviously the first thing the user did was to run the Printer Troubleshooter Fix-It, and it did determine Spooler service wasn't running, but was unable to fix it.There could be http://www.winhelponline.com/blog/print-spooler-service-error-2-error-3-windows-7/ two possible causes for this error. 1) Spooler service registry settings are incorrect and/or 2) Some spooler modules missing (which SFC /Scannow could fix). First I had the user send me the Spooler service registry settings, and it showed:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\Spooler
DisplayName REG_SZ @%systemroot%\system32\spoolsv.exe,-1Group REG_SZ SpoolerGroupDescription REG_SZ @%systemroot%\system32\spoolsv.exe,-2ObjectName REG_SZ LocalSystemErrorControl REG_DWORD 0x1Start REG_DWORD 0x2Type REG_DWORD 0x110DependOnService REG_MULTI_SZ RPCSSServiceSidType REG_DWORD 0x1RequiredPrivileges REG_MULTI_SZ SeTcbPrivilege\0SeImpersonatePrivilege\0SeAuditPrivilege\0SeChangeNotifyPrivilege\0SeAssignPrimaryTokenPrivilege\0SeLoadDriverPrivilegeFailureActions REG_BINARY 80510100000000000000000003000000140000000100000060EA00000100000060EA00000000000000000000The ImagePath value was missing, which caused "Error 3: The system cannot find the path specified.". In case the ImagePath value exists but contains incorrect data (pointing to a non-existent file), it results in "Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified." when starting the Spooler service. The problem was resolved by creating a value named ImagePath (of type REG_EXPAND_SZ) and setting it the following value data:%SystemRoot%\System32\spoolsv.exeRegistry Fix for Print Spooler serviceIf you prefer running a REG fix rather than editing the registry manually, then download W7_Spooler_Svc.zip. Unzip and run tup saying something like, http://outwardtruth.com/SUPPORT/printspoolererror2.htm there's no printer available and or install printer drivers and software. Uninstalling and reinstalling the software drivers fail to complete. Further http://www.cnet.com/forums/discussions/need-help-for-print-spooler-error-2-520019/ research shows me that the Print Spooler is stopped in the Computer Management/Service console. When I attempt to start the print spooler print spooler service, the following error message pops up: "Could not start the Print Spooler service on Local Computer. Error 2: The system cannot find the file specified." Cause Missing Print Spooler File The missing file is the "spoolsv.exe" and should be located in the print spooler error following location: C:\WINDOWS\system32 There are three options you can consider. The first is to copy the spoolsv.exe from a Windows XP CD and paste it in the following directory: C:\WINDOWS\system32 The second option is to simply copy it from another Windows XP computer and paste that file in the following location: C:\WINDOWS\system32 The third option is to simply download the file from this website, simply click the link spoolsv.exe Once the above is complete, the service must be started right click my computer, click manage, on the left click services and applications, click services. on the right side, look for print spooler, double left click on it, select start, close the system services window. That's it, you should be able to print now. © copyright 1999 Outwardtruth
