It never happened that print spooler windows often but over the last few weeks its been increasing where as today it has happened about 20 times. Resolution is just to start it again, but I need to work out why it is happening. Actually there are a error messages in the system event log but on example of todays is the following: Event Type: Error Event Source: Service Control Manager Event Category: None Event ID: 7034 Date: 26/05/2010 Time: 15:25:16 User: N/A Computer: SERVER-1 Description: The Print Spooler service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 5 time(s). For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. Th user action for this is to:For information that can help you identify possible causes for this error, view the WIN32_EXIT_CODE error that SCM encountered. To view the error, at the command prompt, type sc query service name however I do not know the actual proper service name for the print sooler (i tried print spooler and it said not recognised). This investigait ID: 7034 Date: 11/4/2009 Time: 1:26:47 PM User: N/A Computer: HOSTOPS Description: The Print Spooler service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 6 time(s). For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp. Also you'll see in the service that the printer spooler service is not running event tough it is in automatic start mode. And the printer we add from network will dissapear, and when we try to add it will say that the printer spooler service is down, you can add it when you manually start the service, but after you print to the network service the printer spooler service will stop unexpectedly, just like stated in event viewer. And this things happened to the computer in my office when the computer once was installed an all-in-one hp deskjet. So I just uninstall the hp software and driver, all of it there are several hp application installed usually. After uninstallation, I run cleanspl.exe from windows resource kit tools for windows 2k3 I downloaded from microsoft site. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9D467A69-57FF-4AE7-96EE-B18C4790CFFD&displaylang=en you just enter the computer name and click “clean spooler” button, just click yes to clean all available printer just to make sure. After the process finished, you restart the computer and add printer again like before. It should work now… Like this:Like Loading...
