The four laser / toner motors spin OK and the disengagement bar seems to be moving it's full range (up and down). This seems to be one of those occasional flukes that will drive a tech nuts. Any advice....please. The last digit should be a 0, 1, 2 or 3. The K means black laser scanner on the 4600. Are you sure the wires are OK? Did they get chaffed on the metal chassis somewhere? The .2 is a laser error but there is no emphasis on what kind of laser error. If you are 100% certain the laser is a known good one, and the DC controller is tested, then you have wires, and the formatter left. Lastly, the black registration is FIXED, and not detected by the color registration unit, so thats out........... I didn't think of the formatter - didn't think it would affect the laser circuit .... I'll try that. It goes right to the formatter. Al Reply With Quote 04-01-2011,09:47 AM #6 MichaelTech View Profile View Forum Posts View Blog Entries View Art
to this 0 It's a Laser/Scanner error, which you probably already knew, but what could that "K" stand for.Think CMYK.So http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/32401 it's the black laser scanner that's getting an error. In the 4600 printers I can move the black scanner connector on the DC controller to another socket to verify that the scanner is failing. Also with regard to the 4600 printers the wires going in to the scanner are harnesses with plugs on them, they can come loose inside the scanner, it's only printer error happened to me once, it was a result of replacing the DC controller. Here's some more information:51.XY PRINTER ERROR For help press ? alternates with 51.XY PRINTER ERROR To continue turn off then on A printer error has occurred.X Description1 beam detect error2 laser errorY Description0 no colorK blackC cyanM magentaY yellow1. Replace the defective laser/scanner assembly. Calibrate the printer after replacing the laser/scanner. Use Calibrate now.5. Replace the DC controller PCB.
