It is not specifically related to particular part numbers of fusers or duplex units.Replace the fuser or duplex unit with another to alleviate the 55 error. by unknown on Apr 9, 2003 at 2:35am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 It's probably the fuser.Has the fuser been used for more than the recommended number http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/9419 of pages? It doesn't look like the page count since last maintenance was reset though. It's at about 3,000,000! Even though the fuser is new, could the printer thinking it isn't cause this error? by unknown on Apr 10, 2003 at 11:27am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 55 error is the dc control board. nothing to do with a fuser error. by chris on Apr 10, 2003 at 1:57pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Sorry to burst all of your bubbles - but even HP doesn't know what the cause is. I'll copy it below. We found a solution for the problem. The code 55.A occurs if there's a duplex-unit installed and you just replaced the fuser. You probably wonder why, I'll try to explain. There are 2 different duplex-units for 8000 and 5SI. The grey-one and the brown-one. They have the same HP-code. You probably don't b

However you can try a sem-full reset to factory default conditions by 1. unplugging the power cord while the printer is powered on and 2. press and hold the OK and Cancel buttons while plugging in the power cord. If this this does not clear the error you probably have a hardware issue. On my printer, after going through a diagnostic procedure with the HP Chat Tech and concluding a hardware issue I did a bit more research and then took the printer apart. It turns out that a fairly common problem is for the large white gear on the left side of the printer that drives the ink pump comes off the shaft. I reassembled it to the shaft and put the printer back together. When I plugged in the power cord the printer started and did about a 5 minute maintenance procedure and now works fine. The "A" in 55.A means "HUNG_COMMUNICATIONS" Reply With Quote 10-16-2007,12:33 PM #5 raz View Profile View Forum Posts View Blog Entries View Articles Senior Member Join Date Sep 2007 Posts 118 yea,i think this can be a communication issue between other things also sometimes, like between the dc controller and formatter or something.not certain on this though.
