hit the trigger level for the waste ink pad. Inside the printer is an absorbant pad that contains waste ink from head cleans etc. When a set amount of printer usage is hit it puts the printer into protection mode until the pad is inspected and the usage counter reset. Inspecting the waste ink pad is not something that can be done by the user and would require a visit to a service center. I've emailed Epson several times and gotten suggestions, all of which I'd already tried on my own. They also suggested the problem might be that I'm not using genuine ink cartridges (which I foolishly am and always have. hmmm, maybe if they charged even a half-way reasonable price for the ink, people would be less inclined to buy refilled ones). The point is, the cartridge is not the problem. In fact I tried a new one to make sure, and I tried printing in each single color. None of them print anything. They now suggest that I call for help. After reading things on this site it seems to me that it's very likely I have a clog. Well, not me, my printer. And, I think if I call them they will tell me to send it in for a costly repair, which I do not want to do.My problem with the help page here is that I'm not handy at all. No kidding. AT all.
