haven't found much here or anywhere on the 4000. I don't think it even tries to pull paper from the cartridge, it just gives the error after initialization. Any ideas? Respond to this 0 Is there any tread left on the feed/sep rollers. There is one in the tray and one just like it in the printer in front of the pick up rollers. by unknown on Feb 21, 2003 at 1:44pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 tread looks ok on all input rollers. I did notice that the thick rubber band-looking roller under the toner cartridge looked rather loose. Could this be the culprit? I took both trays out, and toner, and pushed in the door sensor, and it gives the same message after the rollers/gears https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6M6cCi1N1X8 rotate for about 4 seconds. by garrett on Feb 21, 2003 at 1:48pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Thats the paer transport belt, its supposed to look that way. So if you send a job do you hear the printer even trying to pick up paper? is paper lying flat perfectly in the tray when you open it after a print attempt? any idea what the page count is by the way? The pick up rollers in those printers rarly need to be replaced or http://fixyourownprinter.com/posts/8626 cause problems. by unknown on Feb 21, 2003 at 1:54pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 The printer doesn't even try to pull paper. The rollers/gears on the right hand side (looking inside face)turns maybe 1/2 a turn before the error occurs. by garrett on Feb 21, 2003 at 2:09pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Power off the printer and remove the parallel or network cable so it doesn't try to print. Power on the printer. Does it go ready? If it still shows a paper jam, there are two sensors to check. One is on the back of the fuser, the other is under the registration flap. If it goes ready and only gives a jam when you try to print, remove the tray and clean the little "D" shaped rollers up inside the printer. The "D" rollers are attached to a shaft that has a linkage at the right end. Sometimes that linkage will break. If cleaning the "D" rollers helps, You need to go ahead and replace them. by david belton on Feb 21, 2003 at 3:49pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Thanks everyone, for all your help. I resolved the problem. there was a small, torn piece of paper UNDER the main roller. (the one that resides directly in front of the toner cartridge) couldn't be found without pretty much breaking the machine down. This small shred was covering a sensor. Got it out, and works fine. I also replaced all rollers.thanks again.g by garrett on Feb 21, 2003 at 3:57pm

Once I do that it starts printing again. What is causing it. I am thinking that its a sensor problem in the printer or the way the document was formatted that is causing it. Does anyone know why its getting that error saying that there is a paper jam but really nothing is stuck. I did test print of several other types of regular word doc and test prints and it prints ok. It is only once in a while that it gets that error. 13.1 paper jam.Any suggestion or idea that is causing it. Solved HP LaserJet 4050 Error 13.1 Posted on 2007-02-19 Hardware 1 Verified Solution 5 Comments 1,958 Views Last Modified: 2008-01-09 I have a HP LaserJet 4050n on my network which randomly keeps displaying the paper jam message 13.1. I have gone through two full maintence kits in the past 3 months. The number of pages printed since I replaced the maintenance kit is 4,586. Yet the problem keeps happening. I have made sure there is no paper jammed any where in the printer. I have taken the printer apart to make sure of this. The paper tray is not over filled. Does anyone have any suggestions. This happens about 3 to 4 times a week. 0 Question by:compdigit44 Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 15 Best Solution byf-king And from HP : http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=67348&admit=-682735245+1171898750158+28353475 Go to Solution 5 Comments LVL 15 Overall: Level 15 Hardware 12 Message Expert Comment by:f-king2007-02-19 Hi here is a Forum with a possible solution : http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/forums/laser/8626 0 LVL 15 Overall: Level 15 Hardware 12 Message Accepted Solution by:f-king2007-02-19 And from HP : http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=67348&admit=-682735245+1171898750158+28353475 0 LVL 19 Overall: Level 19 Message Active today Author Comment by:compdigit442007-02-19 The HP link had some great information..
