Fusers are a consumable part and are sold as part of a maintenance kit; it is expected over the life of the printer you will replace the fuser several times. HP estimates average fuser life to last between 100,000 to 150,000 pages; but a fuser can fail much earlier depending on printing conditions, heavy paper jams, and the quality https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pta0UZoKzQY of the fuser installed. For a temporary fix, you can try turning your printer off and back on again. Sometimes the reboot will allow the fuser to reset itself and you can print a few more pages. If the 50.1 Fuser error message returns, it's time to replace your fuser. Also, on these LaserJet 5000 & 5100 series printers, when the fuser fails with a 50.1 error we recommend you http://www.printertechs.com/printer-troubleshooting/369-50-1-error-on-hp-laserjet-5000-5100 replace the entire maintenance kit including the paper feed components, NOT just the fuser. It is very common on this model to see the rollers & separation pads wear out, even before the fuser fails. Paper won't feed properly, misfeeds can occur, and if paper jams inside the fuser it can damage the sensitive heating element in the fuser. Better to change ALL the maintenance kit parts at the same time as the fuser, than to just install a new fuser and have the new fuser damaged shortly after because of a bad paper jam. Fuser Error Code 50.1: Low fuser temperature 50.2: Fuser warm-up service 50.3: High fuser temperature 50.4: Faulty fuser 50.5: Inconsistent fuser (verify voltage model) Service Manual Recommended Action Turn the printer off for at least 20 minutes, and then turn the printer on. If the error continues: 1. Make sure that the Fusing Assembly is installed correctly and is fully seated printer error into its connectors (no bent pins or pins outside their receptacles). 2. Reseat or replace the fuser cable assembly. 3. Replace the DC Controller. Additional Comments & Diagnosis 50.1 indicates low fuser temperature (heating lamp will not turn on). Power supply is the most common cause. (RG5-4357) Pull the fuser out and check the thermal fuse on top of the fuser and the lamps inside the unit for continuity to verify the problem isn’t in the fuser. If the printer fails to initialize when printer error 50.1 turned and displays "warming up" or if it just jumps to 50.1 error, those are indications that you have a power supply problem. After verifying the problem is related to the AC power supply, check the fuser for common wear and tear in case the fuser also needs to be replaced. When checking the fuser: Check the middle of the hot roller for toner build up that could cause ghosting or poor print quality. Check the pressure roller and gears for signs of wear. Check the bushing by rotating the gears on the side of the unit. The gears should rotate smoothly. If the bushings are worn you will typically notice: (1) Metal shavings that fall out as you're checking the unit, and (2) a jerky feeling as you rotate the gears. If you experience any of the above issues with the fuser replacement it (RG5-6532) along with the power supply. Power Supply Removal in the HP 8100 and 8150 AC Access Cover 1. The three most common reasons for the error are the power source, the age of the fuser, and the fuser itself. HP Q3655A Color Laserjet 3500/3700 110V Fuser KitTroubleshooting the 50.1 fuser error in the HP Color Laserjet 3500, 3550, and 3700 PrinterThe first is the power source. because of modern technology more and more devices are getting plugged in around the work area. The result is power strips. Due to the power consumption of these machines it is strongly recommended that they be plugged straight into a wall outlet. Plugging them in to a power strip or battery backup can draw power away from the printer and not allow them to heat up properly resulting in 50.1 or 50.2 errors. Second is the age of the fuser. As the fuser ages they get minor scratches in the heating element causing it to take longer to warm up. If it gets to worn then it takes to long to get up to temperature and the printer produces the 50.1 error. In this scenario sometimes just turning the machine off and back on will allow it to get to its correct operating temp because it already is partly warmed up to begin with.Third is the fuser itself. Heck, like anything else it will go bad over a period of time. If you get the 50.1 fuser error it is always recommended that you turn the machine off then back on like I mentioned before. Or turn it off, unplug it, and let it sit 10 to 20 minutes then plug back in. If that fails
