After I unboxed it, I followed the steps in the maual, but at boot-up the MFP stopped at Error Code 5030. I have turned the power off and reconnected the plug several times but the same message is coming up. I have not found error codes specifically under MG8220, but for all series (61xx, 62xx, 81xx) they are the same. According to my research this code means - "Scanner home position error; Scanner error; Flatbed motor error; Scanner light source not turned on; Scanner electric circuit error." And in fact, the lamp lights up and goes off for half a second, and then the LCD screen displays the error number and recommendation to restart (ie turn off - turn on) the device. How can I get my printer to work?I ordered it on the 26th of March, 2014 from Amazon.com (sold by Eagle Direct Tech). I know I'm certainly eligible for a replacement or return under Amazon.com's 30 day return policy, but I live overseas, I can't take it back to the store I purchased it from and shipping it back is going to cost me half the cost of the product's price. Can I claim it with Canon? Will a replacement be sent for it?Can you provide me with guidance? Me too Rep

I have a Canon PIXMA MG8150 which has stopped booting up and shows Error Code 5030. I am unable to find this code listed anywhere; most error codes seem to be AlphaNumeric. I would appreciate if someone could offer me some help. I can access service mode and using the service software, https://community.usa.canon.com/t5/Printer-Multifunction-Support/Canon-PIXMA-MG8220-Error-Code-5030-at-boot-up/m-p/86276 can do nozzle checks and test prints etc. Kind regards More about : canon mg8150 error code 5030 WiFi175 December 26, 2012 1:45:38 PM Many thanks StoneWill for taking the time to respond. I will certainly check the encoder strip over the next couple days and let you know how I got on. I assume that the complete length of strip is within reach of being cleaned, or will I have to dismantle? http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/66679-3-canon-mg8150-error-code-5030 Kind regards WiFi175 December 27, 2012 6:24:02 PM I have cleaned the encoder strip as suggested, but unfortunately the Error Code 5030 is still there. I also notice that in Service Mode, the Blue Led is constant, whilst the Yellow/Amber Led gives a 6 flash sequence. Can't find your answer ? Ask ! Get the answer WiFi175 December 28, 2012 11:17:47 AM 'I also notice that in Service Mode, the Blue Led is constant, whilst the Yellow/Amber Led gives a 6 flash sequence' Update This error was my fault; the printhead had not been inserted correctly. I corrected this by inserting the 2 outside cartridges first, magenta and yellow. This ensured that the printhead was properly seated. Can't find your answer ? Ask !
