It only seems to be happening at one of our buildings, and only when it's plugged into the network. Has anyone encountered this error before and come up with an explanation and/or a solution? Any guidance? 0 Question by:miworksIT Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google Best Solution bymiworksIT I believe it has to do with network chatter, and the printer (it’s NIC) accepting information through its other available protocols (other than TCP/IP). Turn the printer off and disconnect from the http://fixyourownprinter.com/posts/58946 computer or network. Now turn the printer back on and see if it comes to ready and if you can print pages from the information menu on the printer. If you can, go to your computer and click on the printer icon in printers and faxes and delete any documents in the q. The document at the top of the list will be suspect and it is best not to try and print that one again or at least if a pdf save it under a new name and try to print the new named document. If you have a network and no documents on your computer, then possible someone else has a bad document. Plug the usb or network cable back in with the printer on ready and see if the error is gone. If it boots with the cables not connected directly to the error then the first step would be obtaining a new firmware chip. by dmzcompute on May 27, 2013 at 6:39am Add comment Please sign in to comment Please sign in to comment HP Color LaserJet 4700N Buy discount ink Buy this printer More HP questions © Copyright 2011-2016, FixYourOwnPrinter.com, Inc. Hardware Troubleshooting Once the printer/MFP is in the error state turn the printer/MFP Off and unplug the network cable if attached. Power the printer On and verify it reaches a READY status. If the printer/MFP returns to a READY status, print printer error code the Menu map and Configuration pages. If the printer/MFP encounters a 49 error during the printing of these pages, move to step 4. Did the internal pages print without error? If the answer is NO then move to step 4. If the answer is Yes , then basic printer/MFP functionality has been proven. Continue onto the next section “Troubleshooting by Isolation?? to continue isolating the issue. At this point, the cause of the issue is most likely not related to any hardware component attached to the device or formatter/print controller, printer memory or flash cards. If the answer is No then the 49.XXXX errors have been isolated to the printer/MFP in stand alone condition. The next step to take is to remove the JetDirect Card if equipped, the hard drive if equipped, fax card if equipped and any HP paper handling accessories. In addition, if applicable all third-party DIMMs (leave the minimum HP memory installed) and all third party solution components and/or accessories should be removed. Once all components have been removed, print a Configuration page and Menu Map. NOTE: An EIO page will not print out

I have an HP Laserjet 4350n and from time to time I am getting an error message "49 FF04 service error". What does this error means? How can I fix it. RE: 49 FF04 Service error on HP 4350n hpwizzard (IS/IT--Management) 18 Aug 06 08:31 Most 49.XXXX errors are related to processing job issues or communication problems. In your case it could be related to the processing of a specif job type like printing PDF files. Try to check the printspooler next time a 49 error appears to see what document type is being printed. Another thing to check is the current firmware version of your printer. If it's old (more than ½ a year) you might consider updating it to gain performance or solve possible issues that have been corrected. There is usually a readme file attached with these firmware updates that will explain what issues have resolved with the roll of that new firmware.
