Select Automatic to ensure the spooler starts up each time your computer does, so it doesn't miss any incoming print jobs. Press Apply in the lower right to save your changes.[1] 4 Change the recovery options. Next, click on the Recovery tab. This controls how the spooler responds to its own errors. Join Now Hi, I'm facing this network printer issue almost everyday now (which used to happen once a fortnight). We have 11 Printers on the network (various brands and models) printer spooler each has its own static IP. We also use a program called PaperCut Provider to track the printing and charge the appropriate client. Most recently, our staff members are having trouble printing (just sits in the queue or freezes) and they notify me. All I do is to restart the Print Spooler Service in the Small Business Server (Exchange 2003) and also the PaperCut Provider Services which is attached to the Print Spooler spooler service not Services. Once done, it'll be back normal and no trouble for a month or so. Until now, this is happening almost everyday. P.S - While restarting the service, sometimes the PaperCut Provider Service wouldn't start (it'll say "Starting...") and I might have to reboot the server :( Any suggestions, recommendations is highly appretiated. The print spooler service is not running. To solve this error, try the following steps. Press "Window key" + "R" to open the Run dialog Type "services.msc", then select "OK". Double-click the "Printer Spooler" service, and then change the startup type to "Automatic". This sets the Spooler service to start automatically when you restart the computer. Select "OK". Restart the computer and try to install the printer again. If the Print Spooler service keeps stopping after your restart it, the problem is most likely related to corrupted printer drivers that are installed on the computer. Try uninstalling all printers and printer software from the computer and start from scratch. This may include PDF writer or faxing software as well. Anything listed in the Control Panel under Printers & Faxes I would do away with. If there is any software installed for other printers in Add/Remove Programs I would uninstall it all. Obtain updated software from your printer manufacturers and reinstall only the items you need. You can also try cleaning out everything possible that might be hanging the Printer Spooler.
