initialization has failed error Recently ran into an issue where a Windows 7 system for no reason gave a "Interactive logon process initialization has failed" http://lifeofageekadmin.com/how-to-fix-windows-7-interactive-logon-process-initialization-has-failed-error/ error for no reason. No updates had been applied and nothing out of http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/71483-63-logon-process-initialization-failure-windows-solution the ordinary. This is a quick post on how I was able to resolve the issue. Tried several of the usual steps. Reboot the system Tried to select Safe Mode, does not work same error Last Known Good Configuration None changed the error and could not get past the error. Booted process initialization from a Linux live CD (Fedora 22) and started looking around in the filesystem and found the c:\Windows\system32\logonui.exe file was missing. Copied the file from another working Windows 7 instance to a USB flash drive and copied to the systems directory. After rebooting the error was gone. Using last known good configuration, booting off Win 7 DVD (and using its inbuilt repair features) nothing seemed to work. I didn't want to reinstall Win 7 as I would lose all my personal files.
