Files ... Cancel ProjectWise error "Document Location Already in Use" I have a couple questions on this error. 1. What can cause this? 2. Why does this happen? I have had a couple http://communities.bentley.com/products/projectwise/content_management/f/342986/t/19054 bad experiences with this error and would like to know what is http://communities.bentley.com/products/projectwise/content_management/w/wiki/8621.last-error-11502-copying-files-into-projectwise the best approach to solve this problem. I have a user right now that has worked on a file in PW by double clicking on the document, PW checks it out and the user makes changes. Closes the application, checks back in the document no problem. Today he tries to open projectwise error the doc and receives the error above. I am at a loss. I do not want to change the working directory (I know this will fix the problem) I just want to know what to do? I have also seen this error if a machine has to be reimaged. If you have the working directory setup system wide tot eh same (local path) say c:\pw_work\ then all users using that machine would use the same physiscal working directory. This is not really a problem untill two users use the same machine and one leaves documents checked or copied out and the second user wants to use the same machine because the working directory is in "use" by the first user... By default this is not allowed by projectwise (there is a data source setting to change this) . Also I assume your machine names are unique in your network otherwise projectwise will think the two machines are one and the same. Similarly what happens when you re-image does the pc get the same machine name again ? Changing the working direcotry path to includethe projectwise variable for "Current user name" would create a uniqure place per PC.
