If you're able to load windows regularly, just go into control panel | network | and remove your network. Reboot and reinstall the networking that you need - tcpip for internet, etc and only what you need. Make sure you don't skip any files. After running Accelerated Reader 6.01 on a Windows 95 computer and receiving the message that system files were updated and your system must be http://support.renlearn.com/techkb/techkb/2361804e.asp restarted for the changes to take effect, the computer will not http://www.sysopt.com/showthread.php?32275-computer-won-t-boot reboot normally. Either it freezes on the “Starting Windows 95” screen, it continues to restart over and over, or a Windows Protection Error occurs while initializing VREDIR.VXD or VNETSUP.VXD. The computer must be rebooted in Safe Mode, using the F8 key. Reason: The protection error problem occurs when installing Accelerated Reader version 6.01 from a Windows 98 computer, when the program location is on a network file server. This problem only affects computers running Windows 95. Resolution: 1) Reboot the Windows 95 computer in Safe Mode. 2) From another computer, copy VRDRUPD.EXE from the Accelerated Reader 6.01 CD-ROM, located windows protection error in Extras\WStation\Win95, to a floppy disk. 3) At the computer which has restarted in Safe Mode, insert the disk, view the disk contents in My Computer, and run VRDRUPD.EXE. 4) Reboot the computer again. 5) After the computer has rebooted normally, copy the VREDIR.VXD and VNETSUP.VXD files from c:\windows\system to the Vredir folder which is inside of the Accelerated Reader program directory on the server. When asked to replace the files, choose “Yes to All”. (If you are not asked about overwriting the files, you have not copied them to the correct location.) I've seen this a couple of times. What type of computer do you have? What os are you running? Remove the drivers (System Control Panel, Device Mangler, Network Adapters), and remove the network protocols (Network Control Panel, Configuration tab). Reboot. Shut down, put the nic back in and let the OS detect it again. Don't forget the protocols (if they aren't automatically added again). Just a suggestion.
