stopped booting. I tried two new sets of cables, thinking it was my TV, but no luck. Next, I tried to access the Safe Mode/recovery menu, but still saw no output on the screen. I also tried Safe Mode on an old, composite input TV to rule out my primary TV—no love there either. A controller connected to USB will not register; it just blinks all four LEDs slowly. It shows ps3 wont boot into safe mode the same symptoms when connected with component and old-school composite cables. I have no HDMI available to test. The green light is on, there's no "yellowish" light of death, and the HDD access light will blink once at boot, then stays off. The HDD doesn't have any unusual noises (clicking, voice coil dead, etc.). Since I can't even get into Safe Mode, does this mean it's motherboard or power supply? Answered! I ended up sending it back to Sony for the $129 special. They shipped me out a new one. I suspect it is similar to the ylod, and if you have a hotplate ro reflow rig, you might be able to get whichever chip was loose reconnected, but I wan't set up for that. 08/01/2011 by Sagamore I have the same problem 07/26/2014 by Chris F I'm having the same problem after returning from a plane trip. I suspect my luggage with my PS3 got knocked around pretty good in checked baggage. 09/15/20
there has been a lot of malicious bot activity from your current internet provider's network or you are using a VPN. It likely has nothing to do with you. We're really sorry for the hassle. Gamespot Giant Bomb ComicVine

First time poster here, so I hope I got the correct forum. I have a big problem: my PS3 won't turn on. It's not a YLOD and it doesn't seem to be overheating either. I was playing Uncharted 2 and all of a sudden my PS3 shut ps3 wont down. There were no light so I figured it must've been the power going out until I realized my TV and cable box were still on, so I flicked the power supply's switch on and off and the red light came back on, so I figured it was all good, but it wasn't. Whenever I turn it on, it beeps once (the normal beep from when you turn it on) and the light goes from red to green and then it just shuts ps3 wont turn off completely (no lights again). If I flick the Power Supply off and on again, the red light comes back on, but the same thing happens if I try to turn it on. Only other thing worth of note is that when I turn it on, just before the system dies, I can hear that noise of something winding up (it does it when you turn it on, just before the fans come on, kind of like a click) I dunno what it is, maybe the HDD starting up? The thing is the fans won't come on, the PS3 will shut down just after that slight click and there will be no flashing red lights (which Google tells me come from overheating) nor the famous yellow light. The blue light never turns on either, dunno if that helps. It's a 60GB launch model, and I live in Mexico and I'm well beyond the one-year warranty (got it Mid-late 2007) so my only option is shelling out for the repair at the only authorised repair centre in my city, or cough up the cash for a Slim. (Which means parting with my BC ). Thanks in advance, everyone! PS. How am I supposed to get my Uncharted 2 disc back? have not done any video setting changes, nor recall a pending software installation. When I start the PS3, green light comes up and then nothing happens. Insert the Game into the slot, blue light blinks and again nothing happens. No video, no sound, and no, it's not output setting problem as many others have guessed in forums. Try to assign your wireless controller and you'll know. It doesn't. If it was on, output and controller assigning I assume should be two separate things. Symptoms: On start, PS3 Green light comes up but nothing happens. No sound or video Insert game or any disc into the slot, blue blinks and again nothing happens Try to assign wireless controller, nothing happens. Try restart the console, unplug it for a while, or keep it on for long time again does not solve the problem. I was hoping for some reason it's replaceable hardware failure rather than software one in a closed box like this. I didn't know about the system restore feature. Solution: With the PS3 in Standby mode (Red light on), press and hold the Start button until you hear a single beep, followed by double beeps. Connect the controller using USB cable and press the PS button on the controller. Now, the system restore screen (or whatever they call it) will come up like this You have several options here for restoring the system, some will unfortunately wipe up all your data, others will make you lose the file naming. For me, I tried the option top-bottom and eventually had to do the Restore PS3 System. Luckily, all I had were demos, trailers, and game saves. only game I was really playing now was Prince of Persia. I felt terrible still though, but much better than if I was playing Ninja Gaiden or MGS right? Or let's say a game Fallout! Sharing it for others with same misfortune. Guess we'll need the PS3 included in the backup plan then. UPDATE: Alan is suggesting a better solution in the comments that I did not get to test my self, but see if it helps. "I have found a way to keep all your saved data with this problem. Follow the steps above but first download the latest firmware update from the playstation website and save it onto a USB key. Follow the steps and choose the bottom option “SYSTEM UPDATEâ€. Wait for it to update and it should restart with all your music, videos and gamesaves." Thanks Alan and everyone else who contributed in the comments. UPDATE: This simple post keeps getting better with contributions by you guys, thanks a lot for you all. This is a very helpful link with videos to fix the PS3 Yellow Light of Death. Thanks banditopeepuk for the link. UPDATE 2: So many people are still facing similar issues, and I'm sorry if this suggested
