By reverting three libmtp packages to the version used in Mint 12 (1.1.0-3ubuntu1): libmtp9 libmtp-common libmtp-runtime, everything works perfectly. Details of error messages for libmtp 1.1.3 below. Rhythmbox gave the following error message: Unable to send file to MTP device: PTP Layer error 2002: add_object_to_cache(): couldn't add object to cache Using mtp-file gave a slightly different error: $ mtp-sendfile 03-Methode\ Couette.mp3 03-Methode\ Couette.mp3 libmtp version: 1.1.3 Device 0 (VID=041e and PID=413e) is a Creative ZEN Vision:M. Sending 03-Methode Couette.mp3 to 03-Methode Couette.mp3 type: mp3, 2 Sending file...03-Methode\ Couette Error sending file. Error 2: PTP Layer error 2009: send_file_object_info():Could not send object property list. Error 2: (Look this up in ptp.h for an explanation.) Let me know if you would like any further info. I am happy to do more testing if that would be useful. Discussion Linus Walleij - 2012-06-28 The only difference in libmtp 1.1.3 that could create this behaviour is that folders are now created using PTP_OC_MTP_SendObjectPropList, and folders are always created since some device at some point started to require this, especially Rhythmbox always creates artist folders. Can you try adding DEVICE_FLAG_BROKEN_SEND_OBJECT_PROPLIST and see if the functionality is restored? Also affects distribution/package Nominate for series Bug Description While copying files to my Creative ZEN using Rhythmbox, several message boxes pop up. Not for every track so ptp layer maybe this is a converting error?! This would not be a problem cuz the files got copied... But the System (metacity) slows down that much when more than 100 windows are opened I'm not able to work as I would like to. Opening a window takes up to a minute. The error messages are: PTP Layer error a803: LIBMTP_Send_Representative_Sample(): could not send sample data. (AFAIC only if a file have to be converted (ogg-mp3) but not ptp layer error every track). PTP Layer error 02ff: get_first_storage_freespace(): could not get storage info. (Several Times... I can't reproduce this actually.) If this error occupies there will only one (the first) file in the queue be written. I don't know if I am allowed to attach files which are not working due to license restriction. I did my best to write English which is readable :D Feel free to ask if my grammar or spelling is to bad to get what I am writing. I don't think that just a bug can damage the whole device?! Yeah maybe someone get the reason of this bug and fix it, I am unable to test it now. I'll check if I can repair it (do not think so), but the ZEN is old so I will buy a new player next time. Ubu872 (ubu872) wrote on 2009-11-21: #3 Same problem here. I transfered over 221 songs, 29 of which did NOT transfer, and returned the error Unable to send file to MTP device: PTP Layer error 200f: send_file_object_info(): Could not send object info. There was no relation to the files, different artists and albums. Anyone know of a way to fix this? Any help would be appreciated.
