I have also tried to export from FCP using compressor and have received the "failed" warning. Try exporting a quicktime (NOT using the export conversion) just a quicktime so the icon is a FCP icon, then import that file into compressor. The only recent change was updating Quicktime and purchasing the pro option from Apple. jmfReturn to posts indexReport Post•Re: Compressor error "Failed: Quicktime Error: 0"by PEYIII on Jan 14, 2006 at 4:18:38 amI understand that you may be reluctant to try this, however, I had the exact same problem last night with a two hour movie I just finished for a friend, tried to export from FCP using export using compressor and received the "failed" warning so I had to export a quicktime and import it into compressor. It works and I don't hink it's really a work around, think about it this way, let's say another editor gave you the quicktime file to compress for him because he doens't have DVD studio pro, this is the way you would have to get the file into compressor. Does this make sense? Sorry, but you might have to change your workflow.Return to posts indexReport Post•Re: Compressor error "Failed: Quicktime Error: 0"by jmf on Jan 14, 2006 at 8:48:30 pmOkay, it was an interesting journey; here is the skinny: The error was caused by a missing mpeg2 component in Quicktime. The timeline looked okay (no unrendered clips) but when compressor hit the mpeg element it failed causing the error. Also note worthy is that adding the missing mpeg2 component to Quickt

Went to share menu, selected iPad, chose 2 pass and higher quality and hit publish. After 5 seconds, the share monitor reported that an error occurred (Quicktime -108). The info showed https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/8/878930 "FAILED". I did manage to export full res media with no problems. Any ideas? Creating history....one edit at a time ! But I do read up on a lot of problems in case it happens to me down the line. I've noticed that 'trashing preferences' seems to be the de-facto response to most problems. Other than FCPX I have not really used my Mac for much else, and I'm still not clear on the inner working of OSX. What are the preferences, where do you find them, and why do people always need to trash them? The administrator has disabled public write access. Simon Hi Ken, I have tried everything. I am trying to send a FCP project to Compressor, but it immediately reports: "Failed: Final Cut Pro generated an error or unexpectedly quit". FCP didn't quit, so FCP generated an error. I have trashed prefs, restarted the computer, opened a new project and copied the clips onto a new sequence. I opened a previous project on a different internal drive and tried to compress, and it failed also. I have to get this done by tomorrow, does it sound like there is a solution somewhere? (September 13, 2009 02:16PM) Ken Stone Admin Trig, It would really help if I knew what verion of QT and FCP, also what codec in FCP and how are you going to Compressor? What preset in Compressor? You have to provide information. --ken Reply Quote Re: FCP to Compressor Failed: FCP generated an error or... If that isn't what you need to know, where do I find the specific output codec FCP uses? One thing for sure, it fails as soon as I click on the second submit button Other info found: The inspector reports NTSC 4:3, 29.97, SD DVD Stream Usage, Ext.m2v, Jobs segmented Pixel aspect ratio: NTSC CCIR 601/DV, Bit rate: 6.0 DVD Studio Pro met-data enabled In the mean time, I am using a QT movie in DVDSP4 to get the job done. Not sure how hard that is. Thanks, hope you can get me back on track. Trig Reply Quote Re: FCP to Compressor Failed: FCP generated an error or...
