create an mpeg-2 High Quality (60 Minute) file with Compressor from FCP, final cut pro video rendering error -50 and receive the same error message. The timeline media is only about 26 minutes. Please advise. jmf Dual 2 G5 FCP 4.5Return to posts indexReport Post •Re: Compressor error "Failed: Quicktime Error: 0"by PEYIII on Jan 14, 2006 at 4:01:17 amAre you exporting from FCP using compressor or are you exporting a quicktime from FCP? I have also tried to export from FCP using compressor and have received the "failed" warning. Try exporting a quicktime (NOT using the export conversion) just a quicktime so the icon is a FCP icon, then import that file into compressor. The only recent change was updating Quicktime and purchasing the pro option from Apple. jmfReturn to posts indexReport Post•Re: Compressor error "Failed: Quicktime Error: 0"by PEYIII on Jan 14, 2006 at 4:18:38 amI understand that you may be reluctant to try this, however, I had the exact same problem last night with a two hour movie I just finished for a friend, tried to export from FCP using export using compressor and received the "failed" warning so I had to export a quicktime and import it into compressor. It works and I don't hink it's really a work around, think about it this way, let's say another editor gave you the quicktime file to compress for him because he doens't have DVD studio pro, this is the way you would have to get the file into compressor. Does this make sense? Sorry, but you might have to change your workflow.Return to posts indexReport Post•Re: Compressor error "Failed: Quicktime Error: 0"by jmf on Ja

I've never had this problem and I read on the internet that it can me a ram thing of the comp. I've got a Mac Pro 8 core with https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/8/878930 16 GB RAM so it shouldn't be a problem. I have some stock footage in the project as well. Some HD footage that I all ready rendered in the timeline. Anybody knows what to do wit this. Any help would be great, cause I have a really tight deadline! Try to make a self-contained QuickTime and see if that works. If it fails, you might be able to located the bad file by observing how far along in the writing process it fails. __________________ William Hohauser - New York City Edit/Camera/DCP production/Animation September 28th, 2010, 02:50 PM #3 Niels Neeskens Regular Crew Join Date: Dec 2004 Location: Almelo Posts: 177 Hey William, thanks for answering. The self contained quicktime worked. I thought the quality of that was less then putting it to compressor. But at another forum I heard that I have to take the self contained quicktime into compressor instead of directly into DVD Studio Pro. __________________ Studio MAD www.studiomad.nl September 28th, 2010, 04:47 PM #4 William Hohauser Inner Circle Join Date: Dec 2005 Location: New York City Posts: 2,501 As long as "Recompress" is NOT checked, a self-contained QuickTime out of Final Cut is a one to one transfer of the digital data excepting any filters, titles or transitions that were applied to the sequence. Those are processed just as if you rendered them, including real-time filters and transitions. Exactly the same process as if you sent the sequence directly to Compressor but that way the renders are temporary files which are deleted at the end of the process. It's the cleanest way to make a full copy of a finished sequence. __________________ William Hohauser - New York City Edit/Camera/DCP
Share -> Send to Compressor option to render them within this application, Compressor would fail randomly during the process with a QuickTime Error -50. I couldn't really make sense of the error as it http://marcoghislanzoni.com/blog/2012/06/29/solved-apple-compressor-fails-with-quicktime-error-50/ happened randomly, meaning sometime the rendering would be successful, sometime not. It also appeared to be independent from the encoding parameters utilized. Tweaking with them did not help at all. Looking up on the Internet I found many http://comphelp.org/guide/quicktime-error-0-final-cut-pro-x/ others with the same problem, but none of the recommended solutions worked for me, so I had to look for my own! Long story short, here is what worked for me. Are you ready? Well the solution quicktime error is: do not close Final Cut Pro X after having issued the Send to Compressor command and switched to Compressor! Apparently Compressor needs Final Cut Pro X still up and running in the background in order to be able to render successfully. Folks with not enough RAM/CPU power may think to free up some memory by closing Final Cut Pro X once the Send the Compressor command has been issued (it was so for final cut pro me, before I upgraded my Mac Book Pro to 8 GB of RAM). Closing Final Cut Pro X while Compressor still has to render/encode the movie causes it to fail with the cryptic QuickTime Error -50. Since I have been leaving FCPX open in the background, Compressor never failed once! Hope this helps! Previous Post Next Post You may also like 21 Feb 2012 Does your Outlook start on emails? Wrong! Ciao! Reply
