Ensure that only FCP X is selected. 2. Click Trash The job is done instantly and you can re-open FCP X. There is absolutely no danger in trashing preferences and you can do it as often as you like. The preferences are kept separately from FCP X and if there aren't any when FCP X opens it automatically creates new ones . . . instantly. Initiaize Error #0 Resolved 3Comments Published September 6th, 2009 in Monkey Tech. I started to get this really annoying error every time I went to page that had a Quicktime .mov embedded in it while using FireFox: QuickTime failed to initialize. Error #0 Turning to Google (the modern equivalent of asking my dad which would usually evoke a "look in the dictionary/encyclopedia"), I found several helpful tidbits that didn't help. One bit of advice called for uninstalling Quicktime, using Microsoft's Windows Installer Cleanup (which was useless since there were no remnants of Quicktime left to clean), restarting then https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4991997?tstart=0 reinstalling Quicktime. No luck. Same problem. The next solution was to go to Control Panel->Quicktime->Browser Tab->MIME Types and reset that. No luck. Same problem. The third solution has too many specific steps to paraphrase: 1. Close Firefox or Mozilla Suite. 2. Delete all "npqtplugin*.dll" files (npqtplugin.dll, npqtplugin2.dll, etc.) from your browser's installation directory plugins folder. 3. Delete all "npqtplugin*.dll" files from the Quicktime plugins folder (usually C:\Program http://www.100monkeys.org/2009/09/06/firefox-and-quicktime-failed-to-initiaize-error-0-resolve/ Files\QuickTime\Plugins). 4. Go to "Start -> Control Panel -> Quicktime -> Browser (tab) -> Mime Settings" and reselect your preferred media types. If you still have problems, close Firefox or Mozilla Suite, open the "Mozilla" or "Firefox" folder in the profile folder location and delete the file "pluginreg.dat" Then, while reading through a bunch of search results, I happened to read a summary that mentioned a different problem with Firefox when set in compatibility mode. I suddenly remembered that I changed this setting because of performance issues with Firefox. Righ-click Firefox's Alias, Go to Compatibility Tab, Uncheck "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" and… Fixed! I tried the uninstall reinstall method which did not work. I can across this which exactly as this mentions I did suddenly recall checking the box recently. This fix worked beautifully! Thank you!!! 2 Vivian

Error quicktime error # 0 Posted on 2006-05-01 Web Browsers 2 Verified Solutions 26 Comments 22,583 Views Last Modified: 2012-06-27 Hi all, I've encountered the following problem on a system running Firefox on Windows XP: when you go to a page that has Quicktime movie(s) embedded (not sure if that's the word; I mean, that you can play directly on the page, as quicktime error #0 opposed to clicking on a link to open the file), the following error message comes up: QuickTime failed to initialize. Error # 0 Please make sure QuickTime is properly installed on this computer. That's in one dialog box. After clicking OK, another dialog box comes up, with the message The plug-in performed an illegal operation. You are strongly advised to restart Firefox. and a checkbox to "not display this message again in the future", or something like that. (sorry, I'm not in front of the system right now) This second dialog box apparently comes up once for each quicktime object in the page (or so it seems; I haven't counted them exactly, but in one page with several QT movies it came up several times, in another one with just one it came up only once) Before this error came up, someone had installed iTunes on the system, but the error didn't start appearing immediately. Apparently the computer was running for about 3 days without any problems, although I suspect in that time the system wasn'
