Only solution is to wait for your rate limit to go back down. comment:5 Changed 11 years ago by anonymous same thing happens to me, i just switched to the beta (.85) and have never had this problem before comment:6 Changed 11 years ago by anonymous I'm using .83 and getting this message also. Gaim (adium included) when it finds that a contact is away, gets their away message to display with mouse over. If your contact list is large, I don't have an exact number, but AOL will complain that you have reached your rate limit. From that point on, gaim (and adium) never do away message lookups. So it appears that Contact A still has the same away message, but when I get-info, the client r
Location: florida When I try to sign on my screen name it gets to 'verifying name and password' then gives me the message "Rate limiting occured during sign on. Try http://www.techiehq.net/threads/aim-trouble-rate-limit-cant-login-waited-a-full-day.635/ again later." Right before that my aim had been acting werid- I was talking to only one person and not sending messages fast and the bar that goes red when you send to many to fast just became red, well i thought that was werid but didnt think twice about it. Then it signed me off (but that could have been because my internet connection is screwy and is always doing that) rate limit anyway i tried to sign back on and i got that message. I had NO warning at all, now i cant get on that screen name from any computer at all. I have waited over 17 hours to try again once. It keeps saying this even though I wait. I need help, i cant create a new screen name, i cant get all my buddy list back and i really like that screen aim rate limit name. Please help. Have you tried AIM Express? See if you can sign on with that. If not, then I would wait for another 7 hours unfortunatly. I had this problem once before, and it booted my for 24 hours. What version of AIM are you using? You could try removing it and installing the latest version (to possibly cure any issues with the bug you were talking about). Or you could go to OldVersion.com and get an older version.
