Want to Advertise Here? Solved How does rate limit for DHCP snooping work? Posted on 2009-12-12 Routers Switches / Hubs Network Architecture 1 Verified Solution 6 Comments 2,991 Views Last Modified: 2012-05-08 You can set a rate limit for trusted and untrusted ports https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/11856261/dhcp-snooping-dhcp-rate-limit after enabling ip dhcp snooping. I assume that a trusted port will allow all DHCP Request, Offers, Selections and Acknowledgements through. But untrusted ports would only let DHCP Requests and Selections through. My initial thinking was an untruseted port would not let any DHCP packets through but then I realized you must let Requests and Selection through. If the rate of DHCP packets exceed the rate limit does the port go into err-disable? What packets https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/24973346/How-does-rate-limit-for-DHCP-snooping-work.html would count against the rate limit? Would trusted and untrusted ports count packets differently. I believe Cisco recommends 100 pps on untrusted ports. 0 Question by:Dragon0x40 Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 17 Best Solution byrochey2009 According to the cisco documentation dhcp rate limiting will shutdown the interface if the limit is exceeded. http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst6500/ios/12.2SXF/native/configuration/guide/snoodhcp.html Go to Solution 6 Comments LVL 7 Overall: Level 7 Routers 5 Switches / Hubs 2 Network Architecture 1 Message Expert Comment by:mitrushi2009-12-12 Regarding rate limiting it seems to me that this is mainly a DoS counter measure so I am assuming that it will do just that limit the rate of dhcp packets entering the interface or vlan and not disable the port. Again without being sure I think it counts all dhcp packets regardless of type. The difference between trusted and untrusted ports is that normally the trusted port will aggregate dhcp traffic so you have to configure higher rates for these ports. 0 LVL 17 Overall: Level 17 Routers 15 Switches / Hubs 10 Network Architecture 6 Message Expert Comment by:rochey20092009-12-12 hi, dhcp rate limiting is configured under each interface so you decide which interfaces it's enabled on. 0 LVL 17 Overall: Level 17 Routers 15 Switches / Hubs 10 Network Architecture 6 Message Accepted Solution by:rochey20092009-12-12 According to the cisco d

I've tried reinstalling, verifying and using different rate settings but none seems to help.some symptoms of it:-connection error: auto disconnect pop ups-ping spikes to 800 (my ping is usually 30-40)-loss spike to 50%+-ratelimit exceeded error in consoleThis problem only seems to exist in csgo only, other source games i play do not have it.Anyone out there having the same problem/ have any ideas?
