I was having a black screen problem screen with media test failure check cable. i disable NIC from Bios reboot and and i was able to use the laptop. Next day i start the laptop it takes time to load windows up to 1 hour. All Replies Posted by ejn63 on 31 Jul 2014 15:13 Check your BIOS setup (F2 at powerup). Is the hard drive detected? If it is, powerup back up, press F12 and boot to the Dell diagnostics. Run an extended test on the drive. If it is not detected, unplug the system, remove the battery, and hold the power button for 30 sec. Remove and reinstall the drive (service manual linked below). If it's then found, proceed as above. If it's not found after reconnecting it (or it fails the diagnostic), it's time for a new hard drive.
